God, Welbeck just cannot win with you guys, can he? He puts in a great MoTM display today and almost scored a hattrick with a sumptuous chip. Good to see Utd turn in a good performance again. :)

Finally it looks like Norwich have a contender for goal of the month. What a beauty.

He plays for Norwich so he won't win it.

It's like how Matt Lowton got robbed of goal of the season last season.

Sumptuous? It just summed his finishing up well, it was a poor finish and rightfully he was denied a hattrick.

One good game does not make someone good enough to play for Man Utd, if you think he is then I guess it just shows how far you guys have fallen. Do you think he would've made any appearances at all in the Man Utd sides of the previous decade?

By your logic, Jordi Gomez scored a hattrick last season. He is now Man Utd quality.

Last thing I had expected yesterday was our midfield trident to utterly outplay theirs. What a performance, especially the first half - best 45 mins of football I've seen Liverpool play in a long, long while.

Henderson just keeps getting increasingly better by the days. Sterling was all over Kyle Naughton (seriously Spurs need a new LB), and Suarez simply isn't human. Flanagan with yet another heroic performance at LB - I've watched his goal and Kenny's smile only 25 odd times now. Lucas magnificent as well - rock solid interceptions, distributions and vital blocks.

Do believe the absence of Gerrard at midfield played a pivotal role in our dominance yesterday. The players took so much more responsibility, compared to the days where they just used to rely on his magical through balls or set pieces.

Andre Villas Boas, another casualty of sacking season.

The early favourite to be the next Spurs manager is Fabio Capello but I can't help feeling that would be a backwards step.

My pick would be Laudrup.

Would Laudrup really leave Swansea mid-season? I don't think so, he's got a big project going on there. I certainly hope not as I really like the guy.

On Suarez, I can't help but think it isn't good for a team to have someone that has to be relied upon so much, especially when you consider Suarez is in his mid-late twenties and not his early twenties. It can do damage in the long term. We saw this with Bale and van Persie, and IMO we are now seeing it from Rooney at Man Utd, it gets to the point where the abilities of other players are hindered and the development of younger players can be damaged as they can't quite express themselves, nor do they have much responsibility other than passing it to Suarez. I think come the summer, it would be better for him to be sold and the money spent on one ready made player and some younger ones too, that would definitely help Liverpool truly transition back into a Champions League club that is looking to start challenging for the title again.

Didn't Spurs do exactly the same thing during the previous transfer window?

Capello would be a poor choice, his brand of football ain't much better than AVB for starters.

They most likely won't get him, all this is arising due to the Baldini link.

The players I looked forward to the most in this year's EPL - Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado have failed like shit. No wonder Spurs are losing like hell.

Feel sorry for ABV a bit though, don't think he is bad coach, but flopping at two big 4 premier league clubs is going to hurt his management credentials all around Europe. I'd be surprised if he manages in the premiership again at least.

From a English perspective, wouldn't mind seeing Hoddle get the job. He looks the best option to coach England after Hodgson goes, so a job at Spurs could ease him back into management for the time being.

Yeah but Spurs spunked all the money on average players in one window, Liverpool have shown they are smarter with money. Who the hell plays ?26 m for Soldado? Or ?30 m for Lamela? Then doesn't play him?

As long as they stay away from the Aspas's of the world, Liverpool will be a much better team if they sell Suarez and use the money wisely.

We don't really have a great track record in the transfer window under Rodgers though. He's spent exactly 100mil over one and a half seasons, and barring Sakho (15mil), Sturridge (12mil), Mignolet (9mil), Coutinho (8.5mil), Toure (free), the remaining 55mil were spent either on garbage (Aspas 6.8m, Borini 11mil, etc) or talented yet overpriced players (Allen 15mil), or players he signed for no apparent reason whatsoever (Sahin 3mil loan deal, Assaidi 3mil, Alberto 7mil, Ilori 6.2mil, etc)

AVB has done far better on the transfer front imho, and the sacking comes as a bit stupid considering he had about 6-7 fresh faces in his new look starting XI, which was ALWAYS going to take some time to gel. Agreed on Lamela though, baffled myself as to why he paid 30mil and never played him!

Lamela was never worth ?30 m, playing him or not. The Roma fans were going insane with how lucky they were.

AVB didn't buy any of the players anyway, Levy bought all of them.

Lamela was a Baldini purchase obviously, he's a decent player, massively over priced though.

Seeing Lamela being used so sparingly, perhaps AVB never wanted him in the first place?
