Who will win the Premiership?

He is a bit of a clumsy oaf, but Luna is just so out of sorts right now. I'd even try my luck with Enda Stevens, who's out on loan I think. I think Gabby's the only one who we aren't laying into, the midfield is a shambles and Vlaar is the only experienced solid center half we've had for quite some time, would give anything to have Mellberg in his prime back.
Ok, now that Kozak is out for the season, apparently we need to look for another a striker...but i'm puzzled - we have 4: Bentekke, Gabby, Weimann and Helenius, furthermore three of them have proven they will bang in the goals if given the chance. Majority of the time we play with one through the middle which is obviously Benteke, but casting the mind back to the ONeil days, when Big John Carew (really miss him too) was injured for a
period, Gabby played as the lone striker and excelled more and is more accomplished now than he was then. His pace and power is a real threat through the middle either by himself or in a two man strike force(providing we don't keep hoofing up long high balls to him). A striker is not a must for me... the creativity is a must. Kozak for example, just having a look up, 9 chances he has had since he has been here, and scored 4. Looking at these stats shows exactly why we are lacking goals. One of those four goals was a back header from a defender, one was a rebound and one of the chances he created himself (West Brom
where he hit the bar). We have to spend the money on a solid centre back, two creative players and a strong commanding midfield player, as a striker will for me be a waste of money UNLESS he is established in the premier league and frankly that is going to be impossible at this stage... Signing a striker from a mickey mouse league in January for a short term fix will not be the answer for me, will take him
time to adjust (look at Helenius, Kozak) it even took Benteke till January last year to find regular goal scoring form. Names like Long, and Le Fondre etc are being mentioned, but what do they give us that Weimann, Benteke and Gabby can't give us?...none of them guys mentioned score goals on a regular. Villa fans like me I admit are guilty of latching onto any potential signing we see on the horizon which is an embodiment of our desperation atm.

What about that Darren Bent guy? think he has scored like, at least 5 goals in his premier league career.

Of course, but PL seemed to have shunned him altogether for no apparent reason. Really don't know why. And he barely seemed to get a touch of the ball when he featured toward the latter end of last season, maybe he didn't fit into our style of play where Benteke was on fire. Really hope he can reignite his career at Fulham, he was one of the most clinical and composed finishers in the english game, but with Lambert at the helm I doubt we'll see him in the claret and blue again.

ironically could be due to missing about 13 full seasons worth of matches with injuries

If only that's how it worked for all players, with the injuries he's had it's strange that he's still even playing football. Makes you wonder how good he could've been without the injuries.

True when Rosicky emerged i remember talk he would come retirement eclipse Pavel Nedved as Czech's Republic's greatest ever player. Due to injuries we may never know now.

I remember back in 07/08 he was perhaps the player we missed the most. The Eduardo injury was a big turning point, but with him in the squad I'm sure we would've won the title that season.

The saddest thing is how badly his reputation has nosedived. The guy was a key component in Dortmund's title-winning season in 01/02 at just 21 and only got better.

Looking at his game, he would be one of the best midfielders in the league now had he developed his end product more, his link-up play is second to none and his acceleration and pressing are also brilliant, he has an eye for a shot and a pass but sometimes he just can't make it.

Have you guys decided the next manager yet? Moyes isn't staying for long. The way the stadium emptied, they don't look like a top team anymore.

It's ridiculous to blame Moyes. How on Earth is he going to do anything looking at the players he has at his disposal? Ferdinand? Valencia? Cleverley? Welbeck? None of these players are any good even when on top form, in any case they're all so inconsistent.

Moyes deserves another chance in the TM, he did make some good signings for Everton. If he messes up again, sack him. Man Utd is a proper team, they aren't going to sack him so easily.

I cannot believe Arsenal haven't yet extended Rosicky and Sagna's currently expiring deals. To lose out on two top class players on a free this summer would be a huge blow.

As for the United game yesterday, same old conclusion - their midfield is in absolute tatters. Horrible display and were overrun with ease at the center of the park by the likes of De Guzman and Pozuelo. Better get fresh faces this winter, else they might as well kiss goodbye to their top four aspirations. Cabaye and Reges should do. Offload Cleverley, he's useless.

Hearing they might get Coentrao as well, would be a great signing and a humongous upgrade over Evra.

I'm not talking from the management's perspective, but what the fans seem to want. Empty stadia isn't a pleasing sight for anyone.
Besides, considering not much has changed in the squad, the same squad was at least winning easily at home just a few months earlier, at the end of last season. Under Moyes, they have hardly ever looked convincing enough. Surely, the squad hasn't suddenly worsened to this extent.

Good decision by the keeper to leave a trailing leg. If anything the mistake Torres made was not making the most of it by sticking a leg out and going to ground. Good on him for not though.

Admittedly the fall afterwards was a bit Torres-esque though, he's wondering what happened. Both in that move and in his career:p.
