just finished watching the games on my sky+ box cause i was in work, managed to miss the france scord and got homw just as the hollend game was starting, so watched the france game first, my god it was poor! couldnt wait for it to end, boring as hell. then watched holland! what a game! reminds me why i love football! italy looked poor, but they went down to an offside goal, and 2 goals on the counter attack after almost scoring, so they wernt that bad! holland looked so great, but can they keep playing like that for the whole tornament?!?!? if so they will win the thing, but it will be difficult to keep playing at such a high level.

but wonderful to watch

Like someone said on 606, Holland might have peaked a bit too early. But then in that group, you really need to.

For Football's sake, I hope Italy do beat Romania.

i think italy will get through, france looked poor, and they will beat romania, but italy looked so much better when del Piero came on, they sould start him, hes had a great season and improves them going forward

It would be brilliant if England to be European or World champions, but I think I would take Coventry becoming a stable Premier League club over that any day.

Also, you can easily see an exciting game of football every week in domestic football with a lot of great goals, yet most international matches end up being quite dull in comparison. Every game had been very boring at Euro 2008 until tonight.

Domestic > International in my opinion.
Yep, 100% agreed. Of course, it'd be great for England to win the world cup or euro's. But I'd take United winning the Champions League or League over it every single time.

i was watching the highlights of that 'Off side goal' is it just me or is there an Italy defender lying on the floor out of play over the line after the previous piece of play. this would mean it cant be offside as the last defender is behind the goals?

Yes that is correct. I dint know about this, neither did I see Panucci at the time of the goal.

Anyways the Italians are usually always lucky so I dont care!

i have purchased the Euro Cup Video package from uefa.com which entitles me to the highlights of the tournament. but when i go to choose a video it still says 1.99 euros next to the play button, does this mean im being charged 1.99 euros every time i watch the video? or is it always there. i just dont want to be paying 1.99 euros every time i watch the video as i have already paid for

Spain 2-0 up. Villa been awesome, looked good in attack anyway. Russia hit the post though, expect Spain to win games like this really, it's when they qualify and play a big nation that we'll see if they're going to bottle it like usual.

Thats true. It was a good performance under difficult conditions, but I wont get too carried away by these results. We need to win the quaterfinal. (which will be against Italy, France, Romania or Holland)

But Villa was spectacular, but he was supported well by the others. Torres created the first goal, Xavi and Capdevila the second, and the third one was probably down to him really. Senna seems to be doing OK as the holding guy, although I'd play Marchena there because in the tougher games you are going to have make some tough tackles and win back possession. Albiol can play in defence then.

Great to see Santi play some part in the end. He is a future superstar!!

Come on Russia. I bloody hate Spain. Bunch of wet-back bottlers.

Loser.

Bloody Spaniards. They were awesome though. Will be class when they bottle it in the quarter finals. They remind me of a slightly worse England.

Which is why Spain beat them both home and away and are actually playing in the Euros.

Apart from Ferdinand and Terry noone would make it to the Spanish lineup, and that too because the Spanish central defenders are usually bad.

You seem to be directing those anti-english comments at me which is odd seeing as i'm actually Welsh and I don't have a passion for international football anyway. These tournaments are good to watch because of the quality of football on show (evident in Spain's classy display tonight) but they are nowhere near the level of club football.

The stuff displayed today and even more by the Dutch last night, was of the highest quality tbh.

I think it was Jamie Carrager who said Spain dont have pace. I dont from where he got that because we've got some really fast moving options all over the pitch. Well no wonder he never really got to play internationals.
