Was West Indies weak opposition???? Didnt he score a century and a half century recently in the home series against the Windies?

Regarding Saurav, even the team management now is accusing him of playing for his own interest rather than for the team's interest

If you checked the above post, I said I would be surprised if Ganguly is retained. I didnt say Ganguly should be removed.

Scoring a century in Indian flat wickets is not a Big deal.

Show me one match where Tenchoker rescued India. Please don't tell me the same old Desert story. ;)

First test century. That's one example.

Kind of difficult to "rescue" a team from the opening position. And do you seriously contend that EVERY SINGLE ONE of Sachin Tendulkar's 70-odd international centuries have come either on "flat Indian wickets" or have had no effect whatsoever on the game? Because if you do, there is no point bringing statistics to the table.

I can give you various instances where Tendulkar has put India in a good position. Tendulkar has played most often in the opening spot where he sets the game up!

And, that doesnt mean dropping him from the team? He should decide if he wants to retire. His performance in the three matches in this World Cup doesnt warrant a sacking! No way! Give him back his opening slot and see how he does there!

Things have gone a bit too far - Sachin Tendulkar

This is the second time we are seeing a row like this after the infamous Ganguly-Chappell episode. Now the whole team is ringing up against Chappell. I feel Ganguly was right and wrong. He was right in those early arguments with Chappell. He was wrong because it was he who favored Chappell to become India's coach. Now a senior Indian bowler himself has said "Had Ganguly heeded to the warnings of former Australian cricketers regarding Greg Chappell taking over as Indian coach, Indian cricket wouldnt have been in this mess and wouldnt have seen this mudslinging"

Why is it that Tendulkar is the major target for India's downfall so far? The problem is not completely Tendulkar. There is always players with talent that you can find but that is where the coach comes in: the coach has to set the pieces together. The coach takes all the good parts and together makes those parts into something great. I am not blaming Chappell completely either but i m saying that India's recent downfall has been a combination of several problems that came together at the same time.

I guess, Chappell might continue as the coach. I was watching a show in Headlines Today where Arun lal & Richard Hadlee were talking. Both were in favour of continuing the same coach!

In my opinion, they shd try Steve Waugh or Viv Richards :)

I read John Wright's book called Indian Summers. Looks like he took the trouble to understand Indian culture.

Looks like with Chappell, he never thought culture would be an issue. In Australia, its OK to question the likes of Steve Waugh, Dennis Lillee etc. They don't take it as a sign of disrespect.

But in India questioning Tendulkar is a Big Deal.

Tendulkar by the way throws a fit and tantrum everytime someone (Sanjay Manjrekar) in India criticizes him.

I am shattered beyond words and I feel helpless. I?ve never felt so bad in my entire career. World Cup was our passion, our collective dream... I?ve given my heart and soul to Indian cricket for 17 years. No coach has ever mentioned, even in passing, that my attitude was not correct. Cricket has been my life. Tell me, even as the world goes on talking about our defeat at the World Cup, has anyone spared a thought to ask what we are going through? - Sachin Tendulkar

What exactly is Sachin going through?

He plays Cricket for a living, lives in 5 Star Hotels, makes more money than most people in the World can ever dream of, and is worshipped by most Indian Cricket fans.

Sachin should stop being a crybaby.

I am talking about his 'special' quality to choke under pressure especially when batting second in crucial matches. No one can question his commitment, but he can't bat under pressure, that's the truth.

Problem is, His failures get even more highlighted when none else also performs. So, overall he has done alright but right now, yes, he must think about what he wants to do with his career.

Tendulkar's outburst

The recent outburst by Tendulkar was not too good.
Infact,I believe he did it emotionally.I mean, that he knows that his place in the team is not fixed,by coming out with such statements,it seems he wants to gain public sympathy.
Btw,what exactly is he going through ?

He says that no coach ever mentioned his attitude, there are reason for that.
The last 5 Indian coaches have been
Kapil Dev
A Gaekwad
J Wright
G Chappell.

The reason why no coach complained about Tendulakr was that he was the fav of the Indian coaches.Wright came in,but played safe.Chappell has seen Tendulkar struggle and he has been giving stupid reasons of injury. If he is so very injury-prone,let him rest.

The Indians have never ever been attacked by any person. No one has challenged them. This is what is hurting them now. They are out of the WC and we can expect some great changes, unless the likes of Pawar want to retain Tendulkar coz of these statements.
Tell me, the world has gone on talking about all this [our defeat and exit] but has anybody spared a thought for us?," asked an emotional Tendulkar. "Did they try to find out what we have been going through
Why should we give a thought to what you ppl are going through ?Can't you the cricketers give a thought as to what we,the fans are going through after the humiliating defeats against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka ?

I am shattered beyond words and I feel helpless. I've never felt so bad in my entire career ... The World Cup was our passion, our collective goal, our dream and that has been shattered

That dream was shatterred cause the players did'nt play well. There is absolutely no need for them to come out in the public and give such interviews.

Well I'm also not saying that he,alone is responsible, but look at his form.

I'd just like to add that even if he just scores in times of crises,he would be hailed as a great.Look at Ponting,Hayden,Lara.

Well they are weak, face it.They have shot to fame recently because of their wins against India.
Mind you,If the team's form continues for the next series,I might see you saying that the Banglas are strong. :p

Sourav-own interest.
Is Sachin also not playing for his own interest. The perfect example dates back to the 194 * he scored against Pak.

Okay... Well one clear counter-example to your inaccurate argument is the India-Pakistan match in the previous World Cup. Playing against traditional arch-rivals and still not having confirmed our semifinal spot, Tendulkar flared and set up a delightful victory for us.

I think you've got the equation backwards. We are fans. They are the people we support. We only saw our team lose. We weren't out there in the XI actually losing. If you think that our pain is greater than their pain, then you really need to stop emulating an ostrich in fear.

True. With the exception of some players, I think the dedicated ones felt really bad, much more than us. We talk about it for 5 mins, and get on with our work. But, they have to live with the pain of crashing out of the WC.

Good move by Chappell, he had lost the support of the players and his brother had just insulted the star player and 'locker room leader' Sachin Tendulkar.

I doubt it was because of Tendulakt that Chappel had tendered his resingation.
He must have planned it out well in advance.

Honestly, I think he's fed up with our inchoate system. I'm serioursly torn on who the next coach should be, because in all likelihood, if it's someone, the least bit aggressive, he'll come to opposition with the way we run things.
