Group E - England, India, New Zealand, South Africa

I don't ever remember Flintoff shuffling about the crease so much when he was good. All he used to do was stand still, raise bat, whack the thing. That's when he was good though.

He seriously needs to work on his concentration. It's all fine and well if we say he's smashing it in the nets but there it doesn't matter. We need to smash from ball 1.

1 of England's team changes worked, 1 flopped badly. Jimmy Anderson bowled very well i thought, but Jeremy Snape was pretty poor. He is good as a captain and is a good domestic t20 bowler but isnt good enough for the international stage. I do feel sorry for Luke Wright though, he definetly has the talent but seems to be suffering with nerves. He needs to just relax and England need to stick with him. This would be my ideal team:
Wright
Prior
Pietersen
Maddy
Collingwood
Shah
Flintoff
Mascheranas
Broad
Schofield
Anderson

Whoever it is in the England camp who thinks Schofield is a better batsman than Stuart Broad is an idiot. Stuart Broad is a decent batsman, he proved hat in the India series and for Chris Schofield to bat ahead of him is just stupid. Schofield has the strangest batting technique i have ever seen, looks very uncomfortable and doesnt get any power behind his strokes. He should bat below Broad definetly. Maddy>Snape aswell, Maddy has played international cricket before and had a decent start to the tournament. The team above would be my team of choice.

Why is Snape getting all the stick? He didn't ask to bat up the order and he just can't slog! It's not his fault Jimmy and Luke Wright can't catch either

He did, he couldn't get hold of anything

...no, he's not in the side as a batsman, he's in the side as a bowling all rounder.

If he couldn't bat then he wouldn't play in that match, Schofield is also a bowling all rounder, emphasis on the word bowling.
I think Snape should of bowled at least 2 overs considering he effectively had 2 wickets in his 1

He's not a batsman. He's in the side as a bowler. He did pretty well and was unlucky to have 2 catches dropped off him.

I was replying to the comments about Flintoff.

In my opinion, this group is still wide open. With Sehwag and Uthappa, India are capable of beating anyone as are England with Pietersen and Flintoff.

India should take the opening partnership as a huge positive, Gambhir and Sehwag the future Indian opening pair in ODIs and twenty20s? Sehwag has not changed and that is great, he is slightly uncouth in his hitting but extremely clean and it seems that everything that beats the outfield races for four. India must learn that six an over while rebuilding is not quite enough and that the odd boundary must be attempted in a period of rebuilding - it is a lesson to be learnt.

The bowling was poor but it was mainly due to poor bowling selection in my opinion. Sreesanth has too much zip off the pitch and with the length he bowls, the ball seems to fly on and off the middle of the cross bat in the latter overs. Someone like Pathan (or RP Singh) who does not come on to the bat but more cramps up the batsman at a lively pace with steep bounce would be a better choice. Harbhajan may be a surprise option for death bowling too, Afridi tried to hit each of his balls for six in the Pakistan game and Harbhajan kept his cool and barely went for any runs.

India did not look like a team in their third twenty20 international! It was a fine effort. As far as selection goes, I would have Agarkar out and Joginder Sharma/Yousuf Pathan in. India were visibly a batsman light today and should go with the extra all rounder who can fulfil the bowling criteria and hence Joginder is my first choice, but Yousef could be good on a spinning pitch or on a flat one where 200 is a necessity.

Now, I am not the expert but do live in England so here is my take on them based on the highlights. They bowled tightly, especially Flintoff and Anderson. The catching, and this coming from an India fan, was awful, they dropped and missed some sitters. They succumbed to good bowling from Pollock and sharp bowling from Van Der Wath and Morkel, without Luke Wright and Kevin Pietersen (what a dismissal btw) firing, they could not score at 7.5 an over needed to win. This happens in twenty20 when your hitters fail and you don't have back up hitters, it should be taken as an unlucky defeat more than an outclassing since on another day, England would have no doubt taken the catches and chased the total.

I no, i clicked on the page...and it goes to the last unread comment so it was on the previous page  and i didn't realise this page was even there.

Totally agree! We should have sent Dimi in before Snape.I didn't bowl badly either two dropped catches didn't help....
