Harry Potter Mafia - The End! Abhas/Death Eaters win!

A very interesting turn of events and I will try my best to answer your problems about me.

Alright Chewie started this Jester thing.

And there is nothing wrong with finding potential roles for a player, particularly when the majority were leaning towards lynching him - I just found a valid excuse that it might not be the best idea to lynch him, as a precaution.

Here he's trying to prove that Matt is a jester in a very subtle manner giving the reason of post restriction for his silence.

Jesters often do have a post restriction, and it was a suggestion as to why he hasn't be posting much. Perfectly valid point.

This I feel any mafia will do, a valid point. But, this is where he is maybe outwitting us. Playing a different game altogether.

Why would Matt want us to lynch him if he were a mafia member? The mafia start of outnumbered by far, and it would make things even worse if one of their members is lynched in the first day phase. His team mates would be trying to get him to post sensibly as much as they could.

Tries to silence Bevab when he posts about the writeup. Everyone will agree writeup didn't help townies at all. How is it perfectly fine, Chewie?

It is perfectly fine for the moderator of a mafia game to include as much information, or to not include as much information as they want. MaD and Hedger were particularly generous, but if you look at other games, quite often you will find that players are only given this much information. Bevab telling the cop to suggest a name who has come up as anti-town focuses attention on the cop and on players who bring up people's names. I'd prefer if the cop did it as quietly as possible, but now that Bevab has mentioned this twice, mafia will be even more on the lookout for people who are suggesting people's names.

Here again, cunningly trying to save a possible mafia (his partner?).

Why should we lynch someone who wants to be lynched? We're just falling into his trap.

I've a feeling he isn't lying here. Also, again Chewie was the one to lynch (initiate the lynch) against Bevab.

I'm going to change my vote,

Unlynch - Matt121
Lynch - Chewie

Though, I feel both are mafias.

I had genuine reason to suspect that Bevab was mafia beforehand, before he made his role claim. I do feel that the post restriction part of his claim is correct. Not too sure about him being Flitwick, but I don't see him as the obvious choice for mafia any more. Unlynch: Bevab

Here's something else that kind of backs up what User's saying regarding Chewie:

Chewie was the first one to lynch Paki, followed by BKB, and p23456789 was the last. Interestingly Matt maintained his vote on User the whole time.

Why would a mafia member be the first person to initiate a vote on another mafia member. That would be extremely counter-intuitive.

Very well done User, Infact, Chewie was top of my list of suspects which I didn't reveal earlier, so that he doesn't become careful.
All his actions have been neutral. There has been no substantial contribution, and if you read back, you'll realize, he's looking very mafia.

Look at his defence of Voldemort, trying to create fear in the townie's mind.

"But I do agree that he probably wouldn't be night-killable."

"He'd be the godfather. Turn up as townie under investigation, kills one person at night (or at least gets Nagini to kill someone), looking to recruit someone at night (not too sure who this would be...)."

Lynch: Chewie

Can you explain why I look very mafia? I also feel that I have been the one contributing the most here. I started the lynch on paki, and brought up valid points against Bevab and p23456789. Bevab has gone under the radar now somewhat following his role claim which everyone seems to agree is plausible.

With regards to Voldemort, p23456789 mentioned that it is likely that he is not able to be killed due to his horcruxes. I agreed with this, but he would still be able to be lynched, though probably not night-killable. Basically, I'm trying to hint to people that if they are a town-aligned killer that if they cannot kill someone there is a likelihood that they could be Voldemort. And why wouldn't Voldemort be the godfather? I'm trying to explain what his role would be.

I can't really understand why you guys all think I'm mafia. User's main points were that I was trying to defend Matt by taking attention away from him. Why then, would I defend someone whose alignment is unknown, and decide to lynch Paki, who is now known to be a mafia member? Why would I lead the lynching on a mafia member if I were a member of the mafia?

I am suspicious of Bevab due to his role claim but then that could be either his inexperience or maybe he tried to act over smart by false role claiming so that no one is suspicious of him. We don't need members who are inactive and are not at all contributing to the game ( I'm talking about Matt). His last post in this thread "lynch me, lynch me, lynch me". That's all he wanted to say in his defence, if he doesn't care about him being lynched then there is no point of him being part of this game for any longer. My lynch stays.

I will try to answer some of the questions you have raised in this paragraph.
The reason is simple, hypothetically if you are mafia and you have a useless inactive buddy, its better for the mafia to get him lynched as a sacrificial goat so that it helps them look townie in the long run.
Do keep in mind you did lead the lynch to paki (because he was inactive). But wasn't aditya and varun inactive (and not posted)till that point as well?
But you chose paki. It does give grounds for doubt.

Varun and Aditya were both part of the last mafia match, and are regular visitors to the forum, so I knew they were more than likely going to come and vote. Paki is a new member, and putting pressure on him through lynching him was likely to lead to conclusions moreso that lynching the other two.

In my view, I don't think that a mafia member would lead the lynch on another member so early in the game, just to be made to look normal. The mafia would hope that paki would turn up sooner or later, and lynch Aditya or Varun for inactivity.

Going out now, and will probably not be back until tomorrow (depending on how drunk I am when I get home...). Don't take my absence as not wanting to reply to your comments.

To be honest with you, the mafia's aim is always to integrate as easily as quickly as possible into the mindset of the townies.
Why would they refuse the chance of making themselves look good?
Sure the might be a minority, but when stuck with a new user, the new player is probably going to be rotten anyways and might end up giving away other mafia members. It would be more of a losing situation to keep him on board.
Anyways, I am still undecided about you. I do feel there are solid evidence against you.

One can't be sure of one. Last game, I was the mafia and I contrived to shrug off suspicions in the mid of the game (though it didn't remain for long).

I think Bevab isn't falsely role-claiming.

1. He said he knows little about Harry Potter and going by that, it'd be difficult for him to come up with someone like Professor Flitwick unless he is really him.

2. It can't be speculated that the other mafia guys told him to falsely role claim, because I don't think mafia would like a role claim so early (unless they've really something too shrewd and clever in their minds)

Smurf, Chewie, ARay, Hedger, User and CG, there is surely a mafia in one of these guys. Can't say about Abhas, I've got an inkling of what his role is. Not sure of Mark either.

Guys, I'm travelling back to Australia tonight, and I wouldn't be here for 2 days.
I'll probably not be able to login from this point onwards, because I'm still left with my packing.

Anyways, my thoughts thus far:

Matt is a shady character, being my first with him, it is very difficult to get a good read. Although, I feel he can't be mafia because that would mean the mafia is ready to be grossly underpowered, and after losing paki, I don't think that would be true. What I feel about his role is, if he is lynched, He'll take with him the hammer voter, or the night phase is skipped.

p23456789 has looked inexperienced. Can't really say much about him, but feel he is townie. One thing, he's not afraid to be lynched.. makes me feel he's more townie than mafia. I'll be happy to reconsider if there's any hint inclining otherwise.

Papa Smurf - I've a null read about him. He's being linked with Hedger, whom I'm suspicious of as well, so that makes him a bit mafia inclined, however, he could be a townie as well, with the link-up being a false-negative. If papa smurf goes, and comes up as townie, it clears Hedger as well. If somehow Hedger goes, PS goes as well.

Bevab is looking town based on his role claim, and at the moment, I class him in townies.

Chewie, according to me has looked most likely to be mafia. About his claims that he's actually helping the town with discussions, read back, and you'll know for yourself. Also read the Simpsons mafia and look at the posts of the mafia (Abhas, Varun, Riz) to get an idea about what I'm talking about.

ARay, Varun, Aditya, User2010 - Null read. Inclines town.

CG123, Hedger, Mark - A bit suspicious. Null read, but Incline more towards the mafia than the town.

Based on my thoughts, and the discussion concluded, My lynch for Chewie stays. Give him time before you hammer though, since he say's he's out.

Plus we've surely got individually aligned players, is there any character who is the enemy of Harry Potter and Death Eaters both?

Hmm, with the roles latent, the game is more ambiguous.

Unlynch: Bevab

Good roleclaim there, I doubt that it's false. Chewie, I can't really tell whether he is mafia or town yet. I say he had good reasons to suspect Bevab, as I did as well until his roleclaim which seems worthy enough. He is trying to take suspicion a bit away from Matt though which means that both could likely be mafia.

Any discussion between me and Papa Smurf might have seen suspicious but it was mainly since noone was really on, and then he said something about his first game and the excuse that new members made and I just said that he wasn't playing like it was only his first game.

I'm not going to lynch anyone else just yet. Jumping between votes regularly just won't help.

back but pretty tipsy.

One thing I don't understand is why you focus on me taking suspicion away from Matt only for me to put it on paki who turns out to be mafia. I have no problems with lynching matt but for the fact that he might be a jester.

Personally I feel that Abhas and User could potentially be mafia, and see me as a threat and so are trying to turn the town against me.

Matt121: 5 (p23456789, Aditya, Bevab, ARay, Papa Smurf)
Bevab: 1 (Mark)
Chewie: 2 (User2010, Abhas)
8 votes for a lynch

Hey guys,
A lot of discussions while I was sleeping. Is there any character who can benefit from getting lynched?I mean Matt posted 'Lynch me,Lynch me,please'.Is it that he is stupid?or is it that he might get something from it?

Too much accusing and suspicion going on. Reading back, Abhas and User never actually lynched Paki007. In fact, this was Abhas' reaction when the bandwagoining on Paki was happening. The bold statement in particular makes him suspicious - why would he want him replaced?

Well, Paki has been lynched out, what a waste of a role if he had any. Maybe we should have simply replaced him.

As for Matt p-number, I've had enough of him. Whatever his role, he needs to go. We've got everyone accusing each other anyway, don't need Matt's antics to further complicate things.

****en hard to read over this last page after a few drinks...

So far two people have said they're suspicious of me (Varun and Abhas), without saying why what so ever, it would be appreciated if you could do so.

Chewie's cleared a few things up, so I'm not going to lynch him for the time being. I'm leaning towards Matt ATM, just because of how he's been acting like a total ******, I still don't really think he's mafia, but even if he's town he's not helping us at all.

Why would Matt want us to lynch him if he were a mafia member? The mafia start of outnumbered by far, and it would make things even worse if one of their members is lynched in the first day phase. His team mates would be trying to get him to post sensibly as much as they could.

Here, I was talking about 'you' actually. Like, you and Matt are possibly partners and you want to save him and hence all this. First he posts like he wants to get lynched, then you bring up jester thing instilling the fear in us that if we lynch him, the game might be over. So, that will save him from lynching and also will not let anyone suspect you.

Too much accusing and suspicion going on. Reading back, Abhas and User never actually lynched Paki007.

I never lynched him because when I came online he was already hammered meaning I couldn't vote.

Personally I feel that Abhas and User could potentially be mafia, and see me as a threat and so are trying to turn the town against me.

Don't know what you're trying to do here. It could be the other way round too. Maybe you see both of us as threats and are trying to divert attention towards me and Abhas. I don't really know about Abhas, he can be a mafia. I'm not really suspicious of him.

I just brought up what I observed from your posts. Can't imagine how that makes me mafia.
