How are you doing in your career?

What did you choose for your career player?

I have to admit I admire how countries like Australia produce so many top sportsmen/women with a third of our population. Maybe the Australian government invests more in the development, and maybe they don't have to financially support half the other countries in the world, not to mention 10 million immigrants and dole sponging scroungers, but fair play to them.

Hey, Noo Zulanders are not all "dole sponging scroungers", maybe it's only the ones that come to Australia* as I heard at least one of them, Biggs, has a new job, although it seems first thing he did there was get totally wrecked at their Christmas party :p

I am not sure if say you're playing an English career and get selected for England, you play much less for your county. Because if you play every (or most) county games plus most England games, plus say an "IPL" contract, yeah you have got a bucket load of cricket. (which will obviously just stop when you hit the fixed time, right?)

Yeah, standard to not play for your county if playing for England. Any ideas if the new 50 over comp and new T20 format as per: BBC Sport - County cricket: Return of 50-over game from 2014

Fixed time career is for keyboard only.

With the money the UK gives away each year we could have at least nicked steyn and kallis, instead of Jonathan Trottsoffhome and Kevin Peitersoutwenitsard. In all honesty the kiwis do trimundusly win ye thunk of thu small pupulation, its ixceeiptiunal.

Russia have more than double the population of the UK and, even after the pounding we've taken in Aus, we're still ahead of them in the rankings by a comfortable margin. #RuleBritannia

Russian cricket pitches are the best!

Best way to sound (and spell) like a Kiwi...

Haha I get you now!!! I have to admit mine was a poor effort but at least you got what I was trying to do!! My cousin moved to NZ bout 10 yrs ago and his accent cracks me up, proper mix of mockney/kiwi!!

Since I am very excited about the career mode and looking forward to playing the career of an Indian player, I was wondering if it would be possible for us to create all the competitions that make the Indian domestic season so complicated to follow:

- the Ranji Trophy, a first class competition where the 8 best teams from 3 groups of 9 make it to the quarter finals, with relegation and promotion between A, B and C between seasons (A being the highest and C the lowest).
- the Irani Trophy, a single first class game between the winners of the Ranji Trophy and a team representing the Rest of India, played at the end of the season (february)
- the Challenger Trophy, a list A competition between the top 36 Indian players, divided between India Blue (seniors), India Red (A team) and India Green (B team), played at the beginning of the first class season (october)
- the Duleep Trophy, a first class competition played between five regional teams (North, South, East, West, Central Zone) drawing players from their respective state teams
- the Deodhar Trophy, the list A counterpart to the Duleep Trophy
- the Vijay Hazare Trophy, a list A competition between the 27 state teams from the Ranji Trophy plates.
- the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the T20 counterpart to the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

My concerns are
- the number of teams that can be included in a competition, which is limited to 16 in the Cricket Academy so far. It would be great to increase it to 27 or above in order to create the main domestic competitions.
- whether we can implement a system of relegation as in the Ranji Trophy and yet give the teams from the lower groups slots to qualify to the finals (to be fair, it's an odd system, maybe unique, to allow third-tier teams to compete in the finals at the expense of better teams)

The Irani Trophy, the Challenger Trophy, the Deodhar and the Duleep Trophy are, in my opinion, perfectly suited for a career mode since a selection to represent your zone, Rest of India or India Red, Blue or Green in the various competitions would be a wonderful way to mark your progress within the game. I don't think it would be too difficult to implement either. It would need a selection system that could be based on the season statistics. These games are a bit like All Star Games and good performances there are often noticed and can propel a player towards the national team (cf Murali Vijay last year).

Maybe Big Ant could think about implementing these elements (and making them customizable for us ;) to play with)?

I have a question when we start with career mode our batsman for e.g. what is his rating as per rating in nets he will be average, poor what kind of batsman he will be ?

Guys anyone ???

Look at MattW's career mode video. He started as a bowler and had dreadful skills apart from one specialist skill. It's probably the same for a batsman.

pretty sure as per matt's career video of the play session - with a bowler, admittedly - you'd start at level 1 for batting and bowling, and these levels improve (or not) based on your career performance

Yes I think that's right Blocker, the other teams should be near that level also but I would love a few 2s in there for a challenge and so on.

PS Maybe when we get to state level(4) you can play against the international sides(5) for a Boss encounter near the end of a season or once or twice a month.
