Should Pakistan host ICC Champions Trophy?

Should pakistan host ICC Champions Trophy as the security concerns are there.....Will the players be safe in Pakistan

Good to see it stay in Pak! Players who refuse to go should be fined for breach of their central contract, surely?
Who cares about the risk? Just live with it - the players are more likely to die in a car/coach crash than in a terrorist attack. I don't see what the need for all the uproar is!

Under current circumstances I feel No. Although some might argue no place is really safe.

If you want a good tournament with all the players playing and playing without fear with their heads on cricketing matters, then change the venue.

No.

Not only is there the security factor, but if the pitches are going to be like the ones found in the Asia Cup, it's going to be an absolute snore and only have more and more people call for ODI's to be scrapped.

And pitches in India are any better?

Also, I believe we already have a thread on the ICC Champions Trophy.

I live in Islamabad, and I feel perfectly safe.

The security experts have deemed the country safe.

The ICC has said this country is safe for sporting events. I don't see why YOU have a problem with it.

Also Cricketman, I feel you are being quite a hypocrite, unless you feel cricket shouldn't be held in India. During the IPL, a bomb blasted near the Rajasthan Royals' home city.

The players WILL be safe in Pakistan. The Indian team were out partying 2 nights before the Asia Cup final. (Well Yuvraj and I believe Raina)

Umm zMario, Cricketman never said they should be held in India?

I am assuming at this stage that if India were to host the ICC Champions Trophy (somehow) that he would have no objections to it. I know its not gonna happen, since they hosted the 2006 edition (which was a borefest), but I'm just saying that pitches in India are definitely worse than the ones in Pakistan.

Rawalpindi is a bowling pitch (and 4 pitches are being relayed). Lahore is a decent balance between bat and ball. Karachi is a batting track.

Compared to India, where you need 310+ to win.

Do We have issue that Who have better Pitches,India or Pakistan?
Secondly ZMario you sound a bit hypocrite as Cricketman has never mentioned that CT should have been held in India.
Anyway as Far as Pitches are concerned let ICC decide it and regarding to security it is subject to individual cricket board and they will decide that there players are safe or not in Pakistan?
India would have tour Pakistan any day so it has nothing to do with India.

I don't feel they should plough ahead and host in Pakistan, there is a security threat in Pakistan. Australia, England and New Zealand aren't going to play I'm sure of that or if they do they will be weaken teams because they are afrad of the threat to their lives.

Exactly WHAT threat is there?

The security companies have come here and gone, all with POSITIVE resopnses.

Please tell me, since you are so involved in the security protocols, what security threat is there.

Please, I'm dieing to know.

Cricketman brought up the pitches point.

Yes, Cricketman never brought up the CT should be held in India, but he did bring up that it should not be held in Pakistan.

CA Chairman Creagh O' Connell (I think thats the name) has said that he is happy with the security arrangements.

ECB Important Person Giles Clarke also said that he is very happy with the security arrangements in Pakistan.

So lets see - thats Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, West Indies, England, and South Africa.

All we're missing are the chickens from New Zealand and South Africa.

Actually wait - South Africa Board has said they are also pleased with the security arrangements.

And the New Zealand Cricket Board has said that there have been no pull-outs so far from their squad. New Zealand is touring Pakistan in late August for 3 ODIs.

Vaibhav - you say let the boards decide. The boards have decided that Pakistan is a safe country for cricket. Now let the players decide based on the faulty media in their respective countries (I recall a headline in I believe The Sydney Herald where 8000 Al-Qaeda fighters are coming to Islamabad. What bullcrap.)

The boards have said that they think the conditions are okay but the news today is that the New Zealand and the Australian Players Associations have urged their players not to go due to the suicide bombings earlier in the year.

Are those suicide bombings anywhere near them?

Has ANY sporting team in the past 50 years of Pakistan's history EVER been targetted?

Will somebody honestly even TRY to get NEAR a group of people who have 45 policemen around them?

If the BCCI announced that any player not going to the Champions Trophy would not be allowed to participate in the IPL, you can bet anything that Symonds will be the first one on that plane to Pakistan.
