I guess that's the old talent thing. Pakistan seem to have more 'big players' like Younis and Yousuf so when they fire on all cylinders they do well. New Zealand are a much better team where everyone contributes a bit every game and you get the odd individual brilliance to top it off. Pakistan's bowling attack, don't get me started on it, but the best of them have been caught with illegal substances on various occasions and none of them deserve to play ever again. I have zero respect for cheats.

Various occasions:eek: Once isn't various occasions. Don't talk about Asif...Believe it or not, when he came into the team, me and a cousin used to call him a druggie...So I can't blame him since he even looks like one. Shoaib Akhtar was caught just once and that isn't called various occasions.

Once is enough to label them dirty drug abusing cheating disgraces of the game who deserve no respect whatsoever.

England discuss Champions Trophy with Lorgat

The England squad are meeting with ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat on Sunday evening to be briefed on the security measures in place for the Champions Trophy. The ECB will then make a decision on their participation in the tournament on Tuesday, ahead of their one-day series against South Africa.

Lorgat has travelled to Edinburgh, where England play Scotland on Monday, to meet with the players and officials. Similar meetings have already taken place in Australia and New Zealand with Dave Richardson, the ICC's general manager of cricket, aiming to calm concerns ahead of the Champions Trophy, which is due to start on September 12.

I feel Its really high time that ICC now finalize the host, the time is passing by and ICC should not hesitate to change the venue ,if players are not sure of their security

If they are thinking of moving this thing than they should do it sooner rather than later. The longer they take the worse it gets.

Are they moving it out of Pakistan or not? This is irritating now. They got to move out of Pakistan, and maybe offer them some other major event at a latter stage (if Pakistan ask for compensation, they should grant it). You need the best players out there because thats what makes the event an interesting one to watch, and the players wont be assured at all of touring the country in the current situation when bombs are still going off somewhere within the country.

There are already very few people who go to watch the neutral matches, now there's going to be absolutely no atmosphere if teams pull out. I've always believed that only tournaments involving more than a maximum of 3 teams shouldn't take place in India and Pakistan because even in the last Champions Trophy, the atmosphere was a bit lacking. Sri Lanka, well, sometimes their fans don't even come to watch their own team play!

New Zealand beat Pakistan 4-1 in their last ODi series (Back in 2004 in New Zealand, unless I've missed a series). Last game was one by New Zealand, Champions Trophy in 2006. New Zealand won by 51 runs.

I'd rather play Pakistan than New Zealand.
But before that, whe NZ toured Pakistan, they lost 5-0.

Oh, and evertonfan.

Is Shane Warne a dirty little drug abusing cheat too?

I say let Bangladesh host it again. The crowd is amazing there, they come to watch all kind of matches

If its going to be shifted, because earlier they told backup place could be SA,then they said Sl,whichever it turns out to be in last, they have to also give the time to pitch curators, groundsman to make it better, last time when it was in India, they had to call few people from other countries because the pitches were pathetic.SA would be good option, 2003 WC and 2007 T20 WC were well hosted, good pitches...I think they should now take decision,as fast as possible...

PCB Chairman may take decision on Lawson soon: sources

KARACHI: The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to make some key decisions on national coach Geoff Lawson after his return from a vacation in the United States.

Dr Nasim Ashraf is expected back next week but speculations are rife whether he will return because of the prevailing political uncertainty in the country.

I think he could be sacked....His performance was not too good...

Geoff Lawson has serious temper problems, I honestly think we were never grateful to Bob Woolmer.

Great man, its difficult to go from a great coach to...

this guy. This is his at least 7th fight in Pakistan, including 3 with the media.

I think that it would be unfair to the host nation if teams pull out. With the kind of money a host nation spends on these events, they deserve a high quality tournament and not a tournament where Bangladesh and Ireland would replace England and SA,with all due respect to Bangladesh and Ireland.
As someone else said,I hope commonsense prevails and they shift it to some other place and offer them the rights to host the next Champions Trophy in 2010 as it would serve as a dress rehearsal for the 2011 WC,something which FIFA do with the Confederations Cup.
The nation which hosts the WC also hosts the Confederations Cup a year prior to the World Cup.

If the event is shifted,I hope it is England or SA who get it because then you would almost be guaranteed of good crowds for neutral matches as well.
The atmosphere in England especially with matches involving the Asian sides is electric and it would be an ideal venue because you would have fans of all the teams living there.

If they move it out of Pakistan,it shouldnt go to Sri Lanka or South Africa.
England as mentioned above will be difficult.
Go for NZ or Sharjah,UAE.[one venue where matches are bound to go full house]

It's not going anywhere.

Geo TV is reporting that Bangladesh and the UAE will be invited if Australia and New Zealand pull out as expected.

However, signs from the ECB and CSA are positive about touring Pakistan.
