the tournament should stay in pakistan, now the the president has resigned im sure the bombings should stop (fingers crossed) i don't know why other teams are bitching about coming to pakistan, has south africa forget that they had a sucessfull tour last year, and when England came to Pakistan in 2005 the tour was safe!

It's just Australia who are making this a big deal, end off the day if you dont want to come then DON'T!

Incidentally, those are the 2 teams that aren't whining as much as NZ and Australia.

South Africa have already named their 15 man squad, and I believe all of them are willing to come.

Probably due to our hospitality :)

ECB to take decision on participation on Tuesday

The ECB is expected to arrive at a decision on England's participation in the Champions Trophy after the board meets on Tuesday. David Collier, the ECB's chief executive, who was present at the briefing by the ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat on Sunday evening on the security measures in place for the tournament, is expected to report back to the board on the issue.

Be fast, time is really passing by...ICC where are you....Its time for you now to take the decision, becuase it will take time for any country and its groundman to prepare good wickets...Last time we know what had happened, people were called to India because of poor pitches...

That's exactly what Australia are deciding whether to do or not.

Meanwhile 2005 was a long time ago, even last year was quite different. In the end Australia will wait for a report and then make a decision.

Given the recent resignation of Musharraf, isn't this more likely to induce volatility?

Definately not, its high risk to have such a wonderful event in Pakistan. Today a bombing again took place, nearly 20 people have died. I think this bomb blast has just nailed the pin on the coffin to have any ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. It doesn't matter who resign, the terrorist always gets an excuse for bombing and assasination.

I am sure with Musharraf's resignation the violence is likely to increase :noway. So CT has to be moved to somewhere else now.

Asif's B sample tests positive

The B sample of Mohammad Asif, the Pakistan fast bowler, taken during the Indian Premier League has tested positive for a banned substance, AFP has reported. Last month the IPL had revealed that Asif had tested positive in random testing conducted during the tournament. Asif, who played for the Delhi Daredevils, had asked for his B sample to be analysed.

Asif is a good bowler,i wonder why Pakistan's major and very good bowlers are and were caught in contraversies!!

What does the ICC Champions Trophy have to do with Mohammad Asif?

Asif was never considered in the 30 man squad, and is not in the 15 man squad.

Regarding the Australians and New Zealand teams, since South Africa are positive about touring and England are still "open-minded" and are willing to come as long as nothing else major occurs.

Actually this picture describes the situation best.

Now enough is enough, if the ICC Task Force are giving a 100% security confirmation, and the Asia Cup was held successfully, then please tell me what the worry is?

If Pakistan is so dangerous, why do cricket tours occur in South Africa, where you have so many chances of being mugged, shot, killed (due to race / religous belief), or kidnapped.

News is coming in that Australia have pulled out.
It would be foolish to play this tournament if teams pull out.
The Champions Trophy is a tournament fought between the 8 best sides in the world.
To replace Australia with Bangladesh or Ireland would defeat the purpose of the tournament and make it a farce.
I hope they shift it or at least postpone it if this is the case.I do not want yet another ICC event with meaningless matches featuring Bangladesh or Ireland(they did beat us in the World Cup). The Champions Trophy format is a crisp one which ensures that there are very few dead games unlike the World Cup.I believe it should stay so.
They must not replace Australia or NZ with lower ranked sides.

Pakistan should not Host the cup*** Please pick up Aussie or SA as the Cup Host :upray

One would have thought that with Musharraf out of the way, life in Pakistan would be more relax and stable, based on Australia's decision, it does not appear so, should things get worst then I too would support maybe hosting it in the closest proximity, but I would imagine that there would be some means or call for compensation to Pakistan, and rightly so, since I would imagine they have already embarked on preparations etc...

Once is enough to label them dirty drug abusing cheating disgraces of the game who deserve no respect whatsoever.

Shoaibly actually has never ever claimed anything, unlike Asif. He's always on Pakistan channels, telling them, "why me?, I hadn?t even done anything apart from exposing the PCB".

Move it to South Africa. Now the players have started making decisions against Pakistan, it needs to be moved. I don't care what anyone says, Pakistan is NOT a safe country to be in right now and you can't blame players for not going.

I think the more likely option is a cancellation of the tournament, rather than a moving of it. It's only 2-3 weeks away!
