This tournament has sucked the energy out of the game in some ways. I don`t know why but I feel we are in for a shocking day tomorrow, with a damp wicket and seaming conditions.

I don't think if NZ wins, it'll be a shock tomorrow. Don't forget, the wicket cannot be rolled till India commences it's innings. The wicket will be damp, overcast conditions are the order for the day and NZ have the attack to dismiss any side in these conditions. I personally feel, this will be a close close match. The wicket is a tricky one and I really hope it's a complete match to defeat the luck factor.

By the way, Manjrekar in his pitch report said that it's a belter! :lol

If India don't win it tomorrow, I won't be disappointed with the team. They have done all that they could. Yes, they could still not solve the middle order woes but this WC is hopefully going to end a chapter in Indian cricket and that should take care of our middle order concerns going forward. I would say that India is actually getting to a point where they are building a pretty strong middle order with the likes of Pant, Hardik, Shankar, Rahul.

Still to me, we are among the Top 2 sides in ODI's and only rain/luck will have cost us the chance to get into the finals. I would say that only England look a better ODI side than us, and that too mostly in non-subcontinental conditions. And even in non-subcontinental conditions, we are almost close to them.

How does the luck factor get defeated? If it had not rained today and the full match got completed today without losing overs, it'd definitely be different than having rain fall all along and change the pitch nature the very next day when the teams resume. Whoever wins, luck factor will definitely be there.

Umm am I the only one who thinks the conditions won't play as big a part as people here are speculating?

NZ dont have enough runs and India will most likely smash them pretty easily regardless of conditions. Like the ball will have to be swinging/seaming/turning as much as a cricket ball possibly can for there to be a chance...

With rain playing an integral part in shaping these semis, it's only fair that it makes an appearance in the round itself. Joking aside, I think India are still sitting pretty here. Bumrah still has his two left, it'll be like starting the day up again and he's so good at getting right into it without needing a warmup that I believe it'll favour him over NZ batters trying to see their eye in again and knock it all over the park at the same time. NZ doesn't have the attack to match India to make a game of this, on paper at least. Anything can happen, it's cricket, but I'd be pretty comfortable as an India fan.

I agree. My point was more related to the fact that a T20 would have been a bit of a lottery and I think a 30-40 over game actually suited NZ more than IND. A full game at least nullifies a lot of that. Pitches are like girlfriends. They change on the same day so this is like a whole new girlfriend. But still, at least there's enough time here to bow out.

India are definitely the best team in the world regardless of the result. England have lost every time there has been a tricky wicket to deal with. They are basically, flat track bullies. I think Australia have well and truly restored their supremacy and for me, they're more a team and an attack for all conditions than England. You put India and England on a rank turner and this English team will be hopeless as well as on a gloomy day in Wellington and they will fall like 9 pins. Their spectrum is a whole lot narrower than India or Australia.

Hope we can witness a full match today, can't blame the weather. Of course it won't be a cakewalk for India to chase but I personally don't feel we are anyway close to losing this one. As Tendulkar rightly said we batted first in the warm-up intentionally even after knowing the pitch won't be easy to bat on to test, to experiment. We aren't that bad on a tricky wicket as the other top teams mainly England, we got a good batting to tackle any situation.

Yes, but Tendulkar missed the point that this is a WC semifinal.

I think this WILL BE a full game. Those 23 balls are gold dust. It, in my opinion is very very crucial. If we allow England to get to 250, we are in trouble. In a semi final, 250 acts like 275-280 and that on this surface is a brilliant score.

Sharma Ji has got 5 tons, but I am still nervous about him playing Boult with that new nut. If there is any sweating or nibble off the surface, we are capable of being skittled for not many.

I have a question here - If rain washes out todays play, India will reach the finals. But, If the same thing happens in Final, Who will lift the trophy? Can anyone answer??

I can see someone unnecessarily targetting Tendulkar here. I think he certainly knows a lot more and played lot more Cricket than few people over here who are posting few illogical comments to some extent just to prove themselves that they are some great personality. Anyways different persons, different opinions !!! :rolleyes

It's an obvious choice India being at top of the points table takes the Cup in that case. And this isn't going to happen this time as we have a bright sunny day forecast for the Weekend which was already mentioned by Mark Nicholas in the the BanvPak game.

The trophy will be shared in that case, like it happened once in the Champions Trophy with India and Sri Lanka.

The current semifinal giving the vibes of a test match feels kinda weird but atleast hoping that a full game pans out today instead of a curtailed one or being washed out.
