@Bevab I have a response to your post, but let's make a new topic for it. I don't want this topic to become centred around it. I also might take some time to respond as it's World Cup time and this particular subject is also emotional for me.

On to the World Cup, I think today is an enormous day for Pakistan. The forecast says it's a washout and if it so happens, Pakistan will lose one point I am pretty sure they think they could get and I have a feeling that this will become a huge talking point once the round robin league ends.

AB had retired from test match cricket

He himself had said that he is tired and wants to step down as he has had achieved enough in his career and not having the World Cup doesn't prove his passion for the game. He said it was difficult for him to pick a particular format for which he would like to play for the Proteas so he has decided to retire from all forms of International Cricket for South Africa and further said that he would want to continue playing for the Titans but had no plans to play Overseas. But, he still played in CPL, BPL, PSL and IPL. Cricket South Africa have done the right thing :thumbs

I agree. I think Pak will start favorites, both on paper and based on their momentum. SL barely scraped through against Afghanistan

If it is a washout, it will be Pakistan's loss and Sri Lanka's gain - and looks like a washout is certain. Only 3 hours of no rain in the next 12 hours forecast

Rain Perera proving to be the man for Sri Lanka yet again! Has certainly been their most consistent player over the last few years :p

If Pakistan don't make it, people will say they simply didn't play well enough. But, you cannot discount the difference in the way they will play from here on if they lose a point. I made this point here about Australia during the CT and I got slandered. This is sport. Every inch matters.

there we go

I seen the weather for Bristol and it is likely that it will be raining all day so I guess this will called off sadly, England weather sucks.

The blame squarely lies with the ICC. I had said this before the tournament began, that if a lopsided game is washed out, it will be detrimental to the chances of a particular side.

Yeah it's not fair on the teams that have their game washed out.
Pakistan really need to win this game but if it's washed out then I believe it will be Pakistan lost and Sri Lanka win.

4 and a half hours to go for a 20-over game.

Which means, ground had to be handed over to the umpires in playable state in 3 and a half hours I think .. thats what cricinfo said. Time is running out ...[DOUBLEPOST=1559908661][/DOUBLEPOST]Doesn't look good at all

Hosting an outdoor sport event is just a recipe for disaster in the UK ... this is bound to happen. I am sure another 4-5 games will be rain affected atleast

The least they can do is prepare for contingency plans like they did during the Olympics (alternate venues, timings, etc.)
There should have been two breaks of 3 days - one mid tournament, at the 20-24 game time. All games washed until then to be completed within 2 days, with 2 games per day. Then another extended break before the knockouts to cover another 1-4 washed out games.

These types of days are just unfair to the participating teams
