ICC Rankings of the best test batsmans & bowlers of all time

The ratings are acceptable if I have understood how they came up with this list correctly.

I'm not surprised Ponting is high though. Lara and Sachin should be up there but Ponting deserves to be just behind them. Maybe Tendulkar 3, Lara 4 and Ponting 5.

Ok My friends the reason why Sachin isn't on the list is for the reason that at his peak he just scoired 1392 runs in a calendar year with a lesser average.

Compare that to smith's 1656 runs last year at an average of 73.

And to all other guys there who fail to understand why we hail him as God.
Because he has something charming about him.Same reason why you English love KP

That is because India played more ODIs than Tests per year in the late 90s...

In 1997, 1999 he scored 1000+ runs @ 60+.

And Smith had 4 tests against Bangladesh in 2008.

Ok i'm going to give an analogy. Hopefully all males understand this. Stevo, Neo85, Precambrian, Dare and karnog are having a competition. Its who bangs the most chicks in a year. We all know karnog is a player but he only got 26 in the year at the most. But every year he bangs around 20. Dare banged 60 in one year but then got married and has had any ever since. Stevo got 20, Neo85 got 85 different girls and Precambrian has had only 20. So the list goes as follows:

1. Neo85 85
2. Dare 60
3. karnog 26
4. Stevo 20
4. Precambrian 20

This is how they've done the list. They looked who reaped the benefit the most in one year regardless of their career. Hence Peter May > Neil Harvey, Hayden> Tendulkar, etc. Kapish

Consistent performance rewards more than once in a decade spikes.

Tests in which he scored 600 runs.But still I have no problem with the list.

Stats always don't tell the class of the player.

Actually the list apparently isn't about the best cricketers at all. Instead it is a list that simply lists the players that had the highest ever ratings in the ICC points table. Or some similar criteria.

This is actually factored into how the ratings are made.

E.g Sachin scoring a century against Australia would score more alot points than Smith scoring a century against Bangladesh.

In 2003 Ponting hit 1500+ runs at an average of 100.2. Kumar Sangakkara from the start of 2006 to the end of 2007 hit 2000+ runs at an average of 88.4. I hope that illustrates the point being made here

why are they anti Indian? because they don't over hype their players.

I'm sorry man there are some really good Indian fans on here who arent afraid that a Indian player might not be better than a batsman from another country but allot of you are just full of it.

There is no facts in the world you could tell me which would prove that Sachin should be higher in the list so you've bascially shot yourself in the foot there.
