I felt sorry for Sangakkara he had the worlds best jus walk in and walk out!!!!! He was a bit streaky at times but like Marc nicolas and tony greig said he was extremely unlucky not to get into the test squad.

Hopefully they'll come back they'd be prtty gutted to have lost coz they are the worlds best!!!!!!!!

If Ahktar is at his best he definitely is the key bowler. But I don't think he is the spearhead of it like McGrath does for Aus. Bond really should have been picked.

I didn't like it either that Bond wasn't picked. But the guys were picked on recent performances. And Bond was injured during that time. It wouldn't be fair to the other bowler if he got picked. But if I was ICC selector I would have definetely him in my squad. He had a great comeback

And I think Akhtar is on form. One match not playing doesn't mean he isn't inf form. He had to face Gilchrist. Facing Gilchrist doesn't give you good bowling figures.

He had a great bowling display against Victoria. 2-29 in ten overs isn't bad. Although Kallis also got two wickets there, none of the bowlers had great figures in that match.

But I still think they will let Ntini play next match.

Akhtar on form is lethal, we have all seen that. Pollock will need to step up just incase Akhtar has another shocker.

They could of picked Bond, they picked like 30 players at the beginning, if Bond diddn't do well in the zim-india matches they could of simply left him out. The selections could of definatly been better. Too many big hitters and not enough batsmen who can control themselves and not play stupid shots at critical times.

Bond in or not, the World XI wouldn;t of won anyway, 255 was easy enough to chase, batting lost them the game.

Dud of a game:sad:You'd think the World IX could do better than that. Bring in the warm beer, maybe that will give the World IX some winning spirit. :D

Maybe they should play the other two players and make it a World XI? :p

Australia makes one change to team for second Johnnie Walker Super Series game
MEDIA RELEASE
6 October 2005

Cricket Australia today announced one change to the team that defeated the ICC World XI in the first one-day international of the Johnnie Walker Super Series, for tomorrow's game.

NSW paceman, Stuart Clark will make his debut, becoming the 153rd player to represent Australia in the one-day arena.

He will replace Glenn McGrath who will be rested after pulling up with some tightness in the legs after last night's game.

The team to play the ICC World XI tomorrow at Telstra Dome is:

Nathan Bracken
Stuart Clark
Michael Clarke
Adam Gilchrist (VC)
Michael Hussey
Simon Katich
Brett Lee
Damien Martyn
Ricky Ponting (C)
Andrew Symonds
Shane Watson
Cameron White

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

This will be a huge test for Clark. I suspect Bracken and Lee will open. Watson will need to step up and White may have to be used.

Absence of McGrath will be a big difference. Now I think World XI will win the next ODI.

Chasing a target is only as easy as the bowlers/pitch make it.

Indeed it will. McGrath is so cheap during his opening spell, it puts pressure on the batsmen. Usually wickets have fallen thus the middle order is exposed early. It will be a huge test of the backup bowlers.

Stuart Clarks Bowling averages:

F/C: 31
OD: 28

Nice to see the tradition of NSW hacks being picked because of the selectors love affair with the freaking state.

What was it David Hookes said? Something like "When they give a New South Wales player his cap, they give him a baggy green, to save having to have two ceremonies"

Mcgrath injury will prove to be a huge blow for the Aussie bowling line-up !!! Hmmm..Stuart Clarke : " Too many Clarkes may spoil the game " :p :p
