It was around the time South Africa was boycotted. South Africa's English tour was cancelled and so they rather cunningly whipped up this World XI concept to fill the gap in the calendar and keep the fans happy.

Yes but he scored 100+ runs despite most people around him failing, and in the last innings batted despite takign that big blow.

Flintoff didn't bowl that well although could've had a few more in the 1st match iirc.

He had a busy summer though considering the injury/surgery he had in the Spring.
