Meanwhile in Townsville India were trounced in their opening against WI by 4 wickets having scored 166/8, the West Indians chased down the score with relative ease and never looked threatened by the weaker Indian outfit with 17 balls remaining.
You can't dismiss them by calling it a weak outfit. If the Windies had chased it down with 17 overs to spare, I'd have backed you on your claim. The bowling was decent and it was unfortunate that the batting didn't click.
I expect a lot from our side, probably the semis should be the cap. As for the title, cant say anything right now. Depends upon how the teams perform in crunch games.

And I don't think India is weak, it's just that West Indies will be one of the stronger teams - so will India, and it ended up being close game even when India only made 166. Mayers innings really got the Windies home, and it was the only fluent innings of the day.
The interesting thing is I thought Australia would be a relatively weak team, most of the scorecards I remember seeing of U-19 matches have seen Aus losing in the past couple of years, but then they came out and beat England. Seems like a pretty open World Cup to me.

I still believe India are strong enough to reach the finals. The fact that we got 6 wickets and took them till the 47.1th over suggests that we have the firepower. India have traditionally performed really well in the U-19 WC tournaments, and it would take a crackpot to write them off after just this one defeat.

I like your self belief and patriotism, you got heart kid but your team cant make it they just cant, miracles happened before but it wont happen with this young Indian team this time.
How about you stop your "criticizing India" mission and just discuss properly.
See, I agree if the same had been the result versus a PNG or Zimbabwe. LEts see how the group rounds go and then make a check on all teams. I believe the last time we played the Aus U-19, Chand and Vohra finished the match in a record 16 overs.
We have talent, but we just need to see how it holds out for the remainder of the matches. Previous Indian outfits have done reasonably well at these World Cups since 2000 and I dont expect us to be any different this time round too.

Come on Zimbabwe mutilate them! Any score around 250 looks to be a challenge on this pitch, India have some good bowling though, hoping Zimbabwe can pull this of!

You hate even the U-19 boys who are placing their first foot onto international cricket? Wow... You seriously need to sort your head out. Your avatars and your India hate posts (which are of the extreme) certainly don't give a very rosy picture of your state of mind. Criticism of India is OK, but hatred for everything India is not.
Decent total by India U-19. But, what I like about this side is the bowling attack that we have. For the first time, I feel that our young team can really throw up some good options for the main side in the years to come.
I would also like to point out Afghanistan ,which I'd earmark as a team to look out for in the future. They have not won anything, but they seem to have run close on many an occasion. Today's game versus NZl is also evenly poised with them at 70/5. The point is they have been bowling out major teams for scores that can be chased down with ease.However, dismissing any side as a minnow, especially at the U-19 level is probably not the way to go.
Can we not request for his ban from the forums ? I mean, if he has simply taken an anti-India stand and looking at his avatars,personal info, we have a pretty decent case out here.
