India in England/Ireland/Scotland

selectors have some answering to do..

don't think monty would have conceeded 73 runs in 9 overs..

having seen wot their spinner did to the run rate, it was probly that decsion that cost us most..

I'd give MOTM to chalwa, cos without him india would have lost..he took the crucial wkts and changed the course ofthe match..

I think it Dravid should be MOM, his innings put the game out of reach for England.

Kick Agarkar. He has been given too many chances. He should warm the bench now.

Bell's at fault if I'm entirely honest.

:D

Rubbish, his S/R was low due to wickets falling around him.

We made 4 notable mistakes today imo:

1) Dropping Panesar for Tremlett
2) Collingwood taking the 3rd powerplay when he did
3) Bowling Tremlett more than we should.
4) Putting Fred in whilst the spinners were bowling

I was impressed with our fight when we batted, 320-8 batting in the 2nd innings is a great effort under lights. Dimi and Broad did really well, with Dimi making up for a poor bowling performance, Broad is such an impressive young cricketer, great lines when bowling, athletic fielder and a handy batsman.

I'm disappointed that the wicket we got tbh, although it was a great spectacle I feel it favoured their team more than ours, I want wickets with bounce and well paced, with some turn. Credit to India they did really well, especially Sachin and Dravid, in the end though 9 runs is incredibly close when chasing 330.

For Edgbaston on Monday, I'd bring Monty in for Tremlett and bat Bopara at 6 and Flintoff at 7 (or whenever the spinners aren't on). Of course hopefully Freddie is fit after his fantastic bowling effort earlier. I thought Cook and Prior showed good promise in those powerplays, Munaf's 2 wickets in 2 balls was very important in the context of the game, even if his figures at the end were expensive. KP played for spin when there was none, he is a good player of spin, but I think he can be susceptible to spin when a spinner is brought on for the first time, ie when he has to find out how much turn there is.

Overall 7.5/10 for England, the little things mattered today, but we put up a fight and we should be proud of that. No doubt though we'll get several "England were rubbish", "Same old for England", etc.

My MOTM goes to Dravid, I thought his 92* from 63 balls was match changing, more so than Sachins 99, he wasn't out, but it looked out and I think the umpire can be forgiven as it wasn't exactly blindingly obvious it his arm guard, good 'non-catch' by Prior though. Another plus for us is our 3 best bowlers all look in good form.

MOTM to Dravid for me too. Chawla did bowl well, but the pressure of needing a high run-rate helped with the wickets. That seemed like some innings. I hope to catch the highlights.

I'd give England an 8, top order scoring, middle order mediocre, but they were under pressure, and the lower order gives England alot of hope in future run chases.
And in the end, just 9 runs were the differance, Tremlett was useless so everyone apart from him get's a medal.

I haven't seen a single ball of the game yet so i'm in no position to comment properly. Bloody good effort to get that close it seems. Mascherano played well.

I have to say though, some of the Indian fan's pessimism and self doubt of their team is disgraceful. Theres a post way back that said they were definitely going to lose after the first over of England innings and were already calling for players to be dropped! Some of the Indian fans on here really do need to take cricket a lot less seriously and stop turning on your own players after one mistake.

Just seen the Tendulkar dismissal. How anyone can say that was a howler is beyond me. It looked absolutely stone dead out when live, and live is all the umpire has. He doesn't have snicko and slow mo replays.

It sounds like a damn good game of cricket took place today though.

India played well today. Tendulkar showed that he can still demolish attacks in ODIs as Dravid showed some fine strokeplay. RP Singh was decidedly rapid and Munaf looked impressive, hope to see more from him in terms of pace and consistancy though. The spinners were most impressive as it becomes clear just how Chawla demolished Zimbabwe.

im gonna state the obvious now lol, if we didnt give 20 extras away we would have won...

India won it quite comfortably. The scoreline implied that the game was close but after Bell got out England were never really in a position to win.

i just hope its overcast on monday and we win the toss for once..

have we lost 5 in a row now ?

i remember Nasser hussain loosing something like 14 out of 19 tosses..
