India in England/Ireland/Scotland

Wow, what a final over. He seemed to time it better with each ball, shame he didn't face a few more balls.

114 runs scored off the last 10 overs, England should be in the driving seat for this one.

This isn't good captaincy. Why would bowl the last three overs of an innings by spinners? :laugh Especially if you have a death bowler like Agarkar in your team. Anyway this should be a good lesson for Dravid for in the future. And the last 51 runs of the three overs could well be the difference in this match.
Agarkar got carted, it was sensible to take him off, however this was a rare example of spin imbalance. Usually teams get stuck from picking too many pacemen. Dravid had failed to conserve his pace for the end because he simply didn't have enough. Powar and Chawla did a good job of bowling through the middle, but then there was no plan B for the death bowling.

I really can't stop laughing at how pathetic India's bowling attack is at the moment.

2 part time spinners bowling the last 2 overs is an absolute joke. Unbelievable.

Shah getting a hundred against India is shameful enough. He's handy, but they shouldn't have had a problem with a player like that. They totally ruined 4 early wickets. Credit to Wright, I think he;s got some talent. 10 times what Shah has. I''d rather have seen him go on for 100.

I can't wait for some of these lower order batsmen to come back down to earth with the Bonds, Lees and Akhtars bowling at the death. Won't be so easy for them then.

Sort your bowling out India. I'll say it again, 2 part timers in the last 2 overs is a disgrace. Haha pathetic.

Great pitch though, should be a great chase with the talented India batsmen. The bowlers didn't make it any easier. England look almost as understocked but I highly doubt they will have part timers bowling at the death because of the experianced front liners incompetence.

ps (Excluse Zaheer and Chawla from this, they were excellent. Powar was ok. Agarkar should be forever sacked, he;s terrible. Ganguly should have bowled out earlier, Tendulkar bowling 1 over was absurd and Yuvraj bowling at leg stump opens up the slog hits, why would you bowl there? Bowl outside off. And besides him at the death is a joke)

Sorry for the long post. I turned my computer on especially because I just can't get over 2 part timers bowling the last 2 overs. Dravid should be sacked just for that.

I start this post with a reference to Agarkar.
He is a guy who has been there for the past decade.
Neither has he won us many games nor has he been able to establish a spot in a side but still he continues to be in the squad, year after year.
We all know that he can have an odd good game or an odd good series but we have all come to know that if it happens, it is an aberration.

When it comes to younger bowlers like Munaf and Sreesanth, we drop them after a poor performance or two but when it comes to Agarkar, he has been persisted for way too long.
He has been atrocious in this series and surely has to be dropped for a decent period (hopefully forever) now.
Just look at how Zaheer is now putting in consistently world-class efforts which is making Agarkar look all the more horrific.

I`d rather go back to Irfan because I know that he`s more likely to improve than Agarkar who has`nt shown that in his career.

The pitch might be great but I have stopped expecting miracles from this side.

Had this been the target in an ODI in the 2002-2003 series, most of us would have said that India have a fair chance of making a fist of the target but now it seems very distant as we struggle to chase even 220ish scores.

Plus, Indian batsmen always fail when they are faced by a must-win game situation .

England re-constructed their innings well after the top 5 got out, Shah and Wright kept their heads while scoring quick runs. And Dimi finished the innings off quite nicely (understatement!)

We only have 3 front line bowlers though, India are in with a good chance.

as always the first 15 over will be crucial..

it england can keep India to 70 or less then the run rate required will already be at 8.

hopefully they'll get a decent start, cos no one likes to watch a dead game..

england should be bolwing short and outside off-stump to sachin to stop him working it thru the legside

just pack the offside field..gotta be worth a try

Wickets are more important, for one, they probably have to be bowled out to lose, but early wickets are especially important with India being devastating up the order.

Even so, 8 is easy to manage, at least on a fast, flat wicket with fast outfields. They would be confident having to score 130 in the last 15 overs.

this is where we miss freddie

need to use mascarehnas and Colly in shorrt bursts, otherwise batsmen will just tee-off..

time for yorkers mode..

This is great batting of Tendulkar and Ganguly. It really feels great to see when they are in form.

Tendulkar gets another fifty by now by hitting the third four in the over.

India already on 84 runs after 13 overs. Tendulkar with a big six now! And he hit against Mascarenhas. :laugh Next ball a four. This is great batting of him.

apparently india have been set over 300 runs 58 times..they made it 4 times..

Indian fans - dont be too excited. When Tendulkar will fall for short of a century, India will struggle and possibly will fall short of the target by some 20-30 runs in the end. This is all too familiar.

So far magnificient batting from Sachin. The old Sachin in full flow, but for how long??? I still fancy an England win.

Ganguly - Tendulkar combo in fire though! This is delightful to watch for the fans.

Actually if Tendulkar failes in the nineties mostly India have won the matches. I don't think the Indian team would mind that if that happens again. Required runrate has dropped under 6 runs an over.

they need to be parted soon..as theyare eating away at that total..

only 200 needed now
