India in England Jun-Sept 2014

This is the first time in the series, I have seen Shami bowl over 85 MPH. We really need him to fire today.

----------

Sir Jadeja to the rescue.

319 to win for England. Should be challenging for India, because the pitch hasn't yet displayed big signs of turn and the seamers are still finding it challenging. But its how England bat against Jadeja that could be crucial to this game.
The pitch is getting flater and flater. If Jaddu doesn't take at least 3 wickets, Indian team may be in danger... Tough luck for Dhoni to lose the toss. Had he won, the scene would have been totally different.

Edit :- As I was writing that, Jaddu takes a wicket...

I dont think so. If India won the toss, they would have bowled first and got some wickets, but then England would have recovered and posted a total much more than 295 and India might have been in a more worse off position.

I am perfectly fine with taking the position that we are in right now. We have a chance here to win if we bowl well.

It's tough anyway, but not difficult.
The first day pitch was the best for fast bowlers. Even now, it isn't easy to score runs because of variable bounce. But still, the conditions would have been more in favour of India, had India won the toss.

Cook is looking solid here. That coupled with our tendency to bring people back into form makes him the ideal candidate for being England`s hero here. Cook to score a 80+ and drive England to a win. Bhuvi is looking spent here with all the bowling and the batting that he has done in this innings. Ishant looks listless and is`nt going to trouble anyone here. Shami is woefully out of rhythm.

If England can manage to play Jadeja out, this game is theirs to lose.

now i've seen everything

i would get a short leg in there for ishant to ballance. or a square leg brought in slightly.

I`ve seen enough to suggest Cook is going to bat big here. Ishant has been uninspiring again. Someone like Kumble would have run through batting lineups on such a wicket.

I think giving the new ball to Murli Vijay was an error especially when Cook has struggled so much against pace bowlers outside the off stump. I also dont understand why Dhoni is standing so far behind to Jadeja? Also al the close in fielders are standing further back which means they are short of any close in catches.

Finally a reward for seamers. Ishant was bowling a good spell and Shami gets a wicket straight away.

I think you are being really harsh on Ishant. He hasn't done anything wrong in this inning yet. He has bowled full and consistently outside the off stump against Cook, the line and length against which Cook has struggled a lot. It's just that Cook has left the ball well outside the off stump today.

It's gonna be Cook's innings this. He is through the difficult part now.

great reward for ishant who i thought has bowled wonderfully this entire test without much reward

Ishant you tweaking legend.

He came around the wicket which he does not like to do too often to make Cook play outside the off stump. Awesome work!

Oh dear, I was wrong. No complaints though :yes

It looks quite dark out there. Wonder why the fast bowlers are still on.

I have a feeling this test is going to be a classic. All signs right now point towards that. Both teams in with a chance to win, India slightly ahead right now due to the wickets they have taken so far and the fact that they will be bowling on a turning final day pitch, with variable bounce and enough in it to keep seamers excited.
