India in England Jun-Sept 2014

This is starting to feel pretty similar to the last day at Headingley against Sri Lanka.

This is England's game now. Don't really see us picking 6 wickets with only 180 odd remaining..

We are already showing signs of being anxious. Dhoni is trying to bowl Dhawan and expecting lucky wickets. Bhuvi is`nt going to trouble them much with the old ball. This is England`s to lose now. They only have to keep their heads.

These two look solid and pitching the ball up isn't getting anything. Jadeja not getting the breakthrough, probably not getting enough action on the ball. For the quicks the best length to trouble the batsmen is short of a length due to the uneven bounce, but that's not going to bring the bowled and LBW into play and these two are not going hard at balls outside off so finding the edge will be tough.

Can't see where India's next wicket is coming. Need the new ball.

We should have pushed harder last night to get another wicket or two. These two have not looked close to getting out today. Dhoni would be thinking of Jo`burg and Wellington already as the bowlers start to tire. We have to somehow manage to not concede too many before the new ball is taken. We will soon realize that Jadeja is not a specialist spinner in test cricket.

Wow, seriously why is Binny playing this game? That fifty last game is completely irrelevant now. I completely forgot hes even out there, Dhawan and Vijay are bowling ahead of him :facepalm

I also feel this is the time to bring in Binny for a 5 over spell before the new ball is due. That would rest the seamers for the new ball and also break the deadlock.

Reckon Binny will get the ball with England on the edge of victory and will produce another 6/4 to win the game. MSD's master plan.

What should have been a horrible session for India, now ends up just slightly bad due to that last ball wicket from Ishant. That ploy in that last over to bounce him out is all fine, but the fact that he executed it so brilliantly must be applauded. All his bouncers that were bowled at the batsmen were extremely well directed. He made Root struggle and run away to the non-striker's end, and then he bowled two leg stump ones to Ali before bowling that final bummer of a delivery. Excellent!

But England are ahead now, due to this session and that partnership. Still Prior, Broad, Plunkett to come (and Anderson can stick around) and just 140 odd to get in 2 sessions. India have to rely on optimism and the boost that this recent wicket has given them. Worrying signs for us!

Sai, considering the kind of side that we are, we had to finish this off in the first session in order to win this match. Unfortunately, we do not have an attack that can come back late in the game and turn it around.

That Ali wicket was frustrating as Ishant was bowling short balls the whole over. Ali should have just kept his bat down, annoying but that is cricket. This match for England hangs on Root. Don't have confidence in Prior, Stokes and Broad based on their form lately with the bat.

Horrible stuff from India here! The short ball theory worked for Ishant before lunch because it was the last over. Is Dhoni that naive to think that England would be continuously troubled by short pitched bowling? They are scoring at almost T20 pace here. And I would say, England are coasting to a win here.
