India in England Jun-Sept 2014

You have to say, however pleased you are, England gifted you the match.

No, I don't have to say that. And I wont say that :)

England fell in the trap and imploded, yes

Likely survives through to the new ball, the short pitched tactic doesn't happen and England don't throw it away.

I'd still probably make india slight favourites

Yeah, I would have given India the slight edge due to the poor middle order but England would have been in a strong position. Onto Southampton, I'd like to see;

Root, Ballance, Robson, Hales, Ali, Buttler, Wright, Plunkett, Woakes, Kerrigan, Anderson

Doubt much will change though.

How are the rankings calculated?

Because right now it isn't unfeesables that Sri Lanka and New Zealand could over take us in the rankings and we'd be 7th in the World.

This is almost like a reverse of Mumbai 2012 where we asked for a raging turner and lost. What should worry England more is that India have been playing with 10 men all this while. Binny has been totally wasted and India could now think of playing Ashwin or a pure batsman in his place.

What do they do going ahead now? A greentop, a flat wicket?

I don;t agree with you (Shock horror!).

A batsmen falling into a trap is one thing, an entire half of a batting line up is just rubbish cricket by the loosing team!

India were a better team over the last 5 days and they deserved to win. Simple. No excuses needed.

Its not an excuse! It's the reason that India won!

I completely agree that India were the better team over 5 days, in fact, over 10 days so far! We are inept.

Let me now switch of the reverse jinx mode. What an effort by us. Its been a total team performance, something similar to the one at Perth in 2008. Lords 2014 can not be added to the list of Leeds 2012, Jo`burg 2006, Jamaica 2006, Durban 2010, Perth 2008 and Trent Bridge 2007.

If you still did not get it, it just says 'Do not dish out green wickets to India!' Contrary to what people believe, we do better on green seamers! :lol

Finally, adi back to his positive mode.:D

I agree with that last phrase. "Do not dish out green wickets to India". Our bowling can be nullified on placid wickets because we cannot take 20 wkts on them. But on a juicy pitch, you are just basically strengthening our weakness.

"If I am not good enough by the end of the summer, then so be it. But for now, I'm here for as long as needed." - Alastair Cook. #engvind

At what point is it bad enough? :mad

Time to throw out some feel good ironies -

"India win their first World Cup in 1983. Three years later, they win their first test victory at Lord's in 1986.

India win their second World Cup in 2011 (28 years later since their last WC win). Three years later, they win their second test victory at Lord's in 2014 (again, 28 years later since their last Lord's win).

Nice irony!

I knew you wouldn't lol since you think England gifted India the match.

And teams have fallen into traps before, doesn't necessarily have to be just a player. And like @Aalay said - India did play better cricket over the 5 days. Bhuvi bowled superbly on the second day and with the bat. Jadeja's counter attack turned the game around. Vijay was excellent and gritty. Forgot Rahane

I am ofcourse not asking you to accept any of these, because unfortunately as an Indian fan, I have been in the current English fans' boots way too many times :|

Leeds 2012? Plus Perth 08 wasn't a green seamer, perth never is.

Overall, a bit of a hyperbole to say that, cause of the test matches you mentioned its not as if India won those all those series. We both IND have still lost more overseas test on helpful wickets, than they have won.

ENG/AUS/SA/NZ/WI will always back themselves to beat indian or any sub-continent in help home pitches, even if they acknowledge IND/SC teams may have fast bowlers who could bowl well in such conditions.

Similar SC teams will always back themselves to outbowl tourist teams on turners, even if the non SC team has good spinners.

These dynamics of cricket hasn't changed.
