India in England Jun-Sept 2014

Since we need some optimism..... Rohit Sharma to cement his place in the side after a match "winning" 150. Rahane gave him able support to get to 80, while Dhoni and Jadeja smashed some quick runs to get over the line.

India wins the match with an over to spare.

Totally possible :spy

On current form, Bhuvi is more likely to last longer than Nohit Sharma. My side for the next test would be this:

Dhawan
Vijay
Pujara
Rahane
Kohli
Dhoni
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Aaron
Shami/Pankaj
Ishant

The extra batsman adds nothing extra to the batting. The bits and pieces spin and batting of Jadeja is`nt going to set the game up either. I would rather play this lineup and go in with a chance of winning than to play for a draw from day 1 of a test match.

Pankaj Singh was probably the best bowler who didn't grab a wicket this game, I wouldn't select him for the next game, seeing hearing his words make me think he has lost his confidence like he has done before.
I think Gambhir should start next game, in for either Dhawan or Rohit.
Ravi Ashwin needs to come back in, we need a specialist spinner even if he hasn't fund success in overseas, and the keyword to end the sentence is always YET. I also think it'll be a good gamble to give Saha a thumbs up as well, there's a good chance the selection will pay of.

Old Trafford usually takes turn, so I'm expecting both Ashwin and Jadeja to play.

Can India manage to stay at the crease till lunch ?[DOUBLEPOST=1406803252][/DOUBLEPOST]

Exactly. Pankaj, through all his interviews does`nt sound like a confident cricketer. He always seems to be complaining about luck. As a captain, I would`nt want someone who is whining and thinks the world is against him.[DOUBLEPOST=1406803528][/DOUBLEPOST]
sir ji century anyone:spy

There is`nt anything left in the game now. Rohit needs to go back to domestic cricket. He does`nt have the temperament for test cricket. From India`s perspective, Moeen Ali has got a lot of key wickets here. I would hope our batsmen take the attack to him in the next game. We have been far too defensive in our approach in this series.

Pretty much agree with this lineup except the Shami part. He has totally lost his touch [HASHTAG]#blameIPL[/HASHTAG] and overburdened a lot (I don't think he has missed even a single T20/ODI/Test since the home series against the WI). I'd go in with Pankaj because he seemed to have bowled well for a debutant (going by the commentary at espncricinfo). Ishant, on the other hand, will be a wildcard. Anything that comes off him will be a bonus.

I'm also against dropping Dhawan this late in the series as Gambhir hasn't had much match practice. It would be better to stick with the same opening pair and hope that Dhawan puts a price on his wicket. If fails in the next 2 tests, then it should be game over for him.

No credit taken from Ali he certainly looks good, but still he is no front line spinner, he is not someone who is going to spin a web around you like swann or murali, he is just going to drop it in the right places and look for you to make a mistake kind of bowler, indian batsman especially someone like pujara and a settled kohli getting out playing for turn when there wasnt much and then dhawan throwing it away with root was a bit too much, i can accept pujara's dismissal as he was new at the crease, but kohli and dhawan should have shown better sense.

Are you watching today?

Great spell of bowling from Ali and Anderson, both of whom are the highest wicket takers this series.

Bad game and we have to move on quickly from this. I think Moeen Ali deserves some credit because he did bowl very well in the second inning. I hope that Ishant Sharma is fit by the time of the next game. Aaron or Pandey will come in for Shami who has looked off colour. I feel that Pandey will come in because he was in the NZ test squad as well before Aaron. Ashwin has to come in place of Rohit Sharma. I think Jadeja and Dhawan will stay in the team despite their poor performances. Bhuvi didn't look at his best in this test which just shows the amount of workload he has went through. Kohli and Pujara has to perform if we want to win the series.

Dhawan
Vijay
Pujara
Kohli
Rahane
Dhoni
Jadeja
Ashwin
Bhuvi
Aaron/Pandey
Ishant[DOUBLEPOST=1406808243][/DOUBLEPOST]England played the perfect test match though. They have won every single session in this test match which is amazing. Hopefully we can bounce back in the next match.

Ok so Ishant Sharma won't be fit for the next game, first blow before the next game.

Awful! That's all I can say. Brings back memories of that disastrous 2011 tour. We are not this bad, to be losing to England by 266 runs. The problem is, Indian cricket and the direction it is going in right now, there have to rely on some "out of the blue" wins (like the one at Lord's) and feel happy about it. They are not going to change the captain until he quits, they have such an awful coach that nobody cares anymore about him these days. The entire management has been a laughing stock and yet, these guys continue to be backed by the head honchos.

And people like me, Adi are called pessimistic. How do you expect us to be optimistic when we have to follow a team like this backed by a board like the BCCI?

Excellent bowling from Moeen Ali. Guessing how they prevented him from wearing the armband has brought out the best in him, plan has backfired! Crushing victory by the English!
