India in West Indies, 2009

India win the series... Third consecutive one overseas! That six from Dhoni in the last over of the previous game effectively won India the series. Could have gone either way (the series) since we needed 11 off 6 balls there.

Dhoni should be Man of the series. He played better than Yuvraj (who had only that one innings of 131)

Dayum, for once i wish the Siril series came early. I'm just a little jump away from Sri Lanka (in Chennai!) and it's scheduled for right after I go back to America! :noway

@ Rohit The Indian players need a long break right now (they're getting close to 2 months). So dont worry! They deserve this rest. We always have our Willow.tv or whatever cricket stream to keep us on the hook.

Not liking the sound of that :spy:p

So MOS was Dhoni, probably deserved it though. He contributed in the 1st ODI with 40 odd, dug us out of a massive hole in the 2nd ODI and won the game for us with that sixer in the 3rd.

Congratulations for Indian team for winning 5th series in a row!...

Rain was the spoil sport in the last match,it should have been a series of 5 matches, anyway,India won the series, Congratulations, now which is their upcoming series and against whom?

The positives for India from this series are

  • Dinesh Karthik's batting and his assurance that we have a backup opener if Sehwag misses out
  • Ashish Nehra's comeback. He is classified as a success in this tour with 6 wickets in 3 games (not counting the 4th one) with an average of 19.16 and an economy of 5.84 which in the age of T20, is good enough
  • Dhoni's form in ODI's which has been re-assured after a temporary blip in T20's. In ODI's, he has been our best batsmen

The negatives would be

  • Ishant's non-performance. He is India's most hyped fast bowler and a promising talent, but he continues to fail big time in the shorter formats
  • Rohit Sharma's continuous failure in ODI's. This guy is showing that he fits only T20 cricket. Doesnt have the patience to play a big ODI innings
  • Gambhir who looks a different man when Sehwag is with him, and is totally different when someone else accompanies him

Once Sehwag, Sachin, Raina and Zaheer come back, the likes of Badrinath, Vijay and Nayar will make way for him (unfortunately I dont want Nayar to make way). Nayar should be retained with Jadeja shown the door. We have enough spinners and we would be good to have a medium pace allrounder. This should be our Champions Trophy team (hope Sehwag can make it in time)

Gautam Gambhir
Virender Sehwag
Sachin Tendulkar
Dinesh Karthick
Suresh Raina
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni
Yusuf Pathan
Abhishek Nayar
Harbhajan Singh
Pragyan Ojha
Zaheer Khan
Ashish Nehra
Ishant Sharma
Praveen Kumar

we have a tri-series against SL and NZ (in September probably!) in Sri Lanka.

Another negative is that, in case of an early top-order collapse, our middle-order is collapsing as well. This can prove to be quite fatal in a knockout tournament like the CT.

I dont feel so mate. When Sachin and Sehwag return,Gambhir would come down to no.3.Im not too sure about Karthik's place. But Raina should definitely be given a chance over Rohit. My XI for any match in the future would be
Sehwag
Sachin
Gambhir
Yuvraj
Raina/Karthik
Dhoni
Yusuf
Harbhajan
Ojha/RP (can vary with conditions)
Zaheer
Ishant

Yup I agree. But going by this recently concluded series.Praveen just got a chance while RP played all 4 games, just showing the faith that Dhoni has in him.

Another series win for the Indians :happy.

Sachin and Sehwag would really had made a difference..

^ I would prefer Praveen Kumar to RP Singh. RP is not a reliable bowler at all. Very inconsistent.

But the champions trophy will be played in South Africa. South Africa is RP's haven. He did so well in the T20 World Cup in 2007 and also, he was the top wicket taker in IPL-II which was again held in South Africa. RP has a new liking for South African conditions. Also in both tournaments, RP's team ended up winning the big prize (the World Cup, and the IPL trophy)

Badrinath and Vijay gained a lot of carrying out drink experience.

I think Badri is done with. Even if Dravid or Sachin retire from tests, they will opt for the likes of Pujara, Rohit, etc and not for Badri. He will end up as one of those players who promised a lot but never got a proper chance
