India Team Discussion

Anyone here watched "83" in cinemas yet? Just came back after watching! Absolute EMOTIONAL ride!! I was born two years after that epic win, but being a major cricket buff in the 90's, I read up every article that I fell upon, and know most of the details about that time. If you know the details about those times or if you are a cricket buff and more so from India, you will LOVE this movie! Ranveer Singh just nailed Kapil Dev's role. There was no Ranveer in it at all, just pure KAPIL!!

Lots of surprise cameos (a fleeting reference to a future India legend post the 83 win, left me with every bit goosebumps possible)!!!

Apologies if this might sound like being posted in the wrong thread! This is about Indian cricket and I thought it'd be appropriate to post this here!

Indian cricket post-mortem after the defeat to SA - I think there is this uncomfortable equation out there where Kohli's brash image does not align with a coach who's equally or even bigger than Kohli himself. Happened with Kumble (Kumble is as big as Kohli) and now seems to be happening with Dravid (Dravid is bigger than Kohli in Indian cricket). I don't think the way forward for Indian cricket is to have these kinds of combinations. And in such a case, Kohli the captain HAS TO GO! It is a surety now that Rahane might have played his last test match for India and maybe Pujara too. But India has to make a permanent move-on from Kohli's captaincy. We cant keep changing coaches to fit his image. And as we saw the dark sides of his image yesterday, its not worth it! And also, it would be utter rubbish move to have KL Rahul as the vice captain behind Rohit Sharma! Either give it to Shreyas Iyer (yes even if he's a rookie in tests) or give it to Rishabh Pant or a Jasprit Bumrah. With that kind of attitude that Rahul displayed in this test match, he should not be near the leadership group.

The likes of Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Vihari should start getting opportunities now as the team moves past Pujara and Rahane! Honestly feel really sad for these two blokes, but they've run out of opportunities.

The biggest question is now Rahul will be the vice captain in all formats and that's really hard to swallow.

This is big only a matter of time now I feel where Kohli decides to hang up his boots as well.

The 2023 could his last ever tournament for India.
Hopefully India and Pakistan still qualify for the WTC final in 2023, before he retires. He'd be almost 35 then.
