India tour of Australia Nov'20-Jan'21

As for Australia, D'Arcy Short played one of the worst T20 knocks I can remember in a long long time. He looks like a world beater in the BBL and the Blast but turns into a terrible player all of a sudden. Wade should never play if he isn't batting in the top three and with Finch not fully fit he may just get a chance to replicate his Hurricanes' partnership with Short. Has to be last chance saloon for him and even Short though, another failure should really not be rewarded. Good that Green was released for the Australia A game rather than play in a meaningless T20I. I assume Cummins is to be rested for the whole series and Starc with Hazlewood may join him soon, especially if the next game is lost. Or they may just decide it isn't worth risking their two premier pacers fitness although Langer seems to be more willing to play his best players in every game rather than rotate in a cabal of hopeless pie chuckers. Would love to see them play personally, we need a good challenge.

Sams should play ahead of Abbott and playing even Labuschagne somewhere wouldn't be the worst idea to see how he does. This current Aussie side is very unbalanced though, India has a really good chance of winning the series which should be a confidence booster. I'm surprised that Bumrah played in a dead rubber ODI game that had no significance instead of being rested and then playing in the format that actually will have two World Cups in two years. Chahal should have never been dropped in the last game either. The lineups I would love to see are

Mayank
Rahul
Kohli
Samson
Hardik
Pandey
Sundar
Chahar
Natarajan
Chahal
Bumrah (can always rest him for the next game and Shami deserves a day off too)

Finch/Short
Wade
Labuschagne
Smith
Maxwell
Henriques
Sams
Abbott/Swepson (decide on conditions)
Starc
Zampa
Hazlewood

Terrible start from the young guns, Gill and Prithvi! One of them had to really push hard to get a test XI spot ahead of KL Rahul. But right now, it looks like Rahul and Mayank will start at Adelaide for the first test, unless either of Gill or Prithvi play a blinder in the 2nd innings of this ongoing warm up game.

Also, is this the first time India is playing two games at the same time, on a tour? I am trying to jog through my memory but cant remember it. This is exciting, and definitely is an even stronger boost for the idea of "specialists for the respective format" and the most sensitive issue for India right now, which is "split captaincy".

I am excited about the test series and want to see how India perform under Rahane. There will be a lot of subtext to that series, where India will get a taste of how different captains work for different formats. My personal preference on how it should be going forward in the near future - Rahane or Pujara should captain the test team, Rohit should captain the ODI and T20 teams and Kohli assumes the "Sachin Tendulkar" role of being the team's premier batsman in all formats and go on amassing every record of Sachin and possibly create new ones of his own. This is my dream scenario, but I am not optimistic.

The Indian tail throwing away wickets to the part timers seems like a familiar sight.

Travis Head has 2 one of Saha & now Kuldeep.

Good knock this from Rahane , India needs him to be top form with Kohli not there for the last 3 matches.

Tim Paine is playing the match but not captaining?

There were couple of questionable decisions in that innings, mainly Vihari and Saha.

You have to be a screw loose to be suggesting that Gill/Shaw will play ahead of KL.[DOUBLEPOST=1607245009][/DOUBLEPOST]India's fielding has gone three steps back in the lockdown.

What a joke this captain is! No 6th bowler in sight and he has introduced his leg spinner in the 10th over and bowled his main death bowler 75% of his quota before entering the fourth quarter of the innings!

It's unreal how bad he is. Unreal.

Kohli is the Donald Trump of world cricket. For Indian cricket's sake, I hope there is a Biden in sight.

Was that AB de Villiers in Indian jersey who looked like Virat Kohli? What a paddle scoop that was for a six!!!

He’s gonna win it with the bat, and everything will be forgotten.

Felt 2016 all over again when I watched the last over. Absolutely nostalgic!!! Anyone else felt the same?

This was meant to be our 10th consecutive win in matches that had a result. Who did think that we would achieve this feat in this format just over a year ago? This is some resurgence!!! Inspite of some terrible Captaincy decisions to win consistently to the extent that we are winning shows we are far more powerful as a side than it seemed back then. We definitely have the side now for 2021 WT20. Just somehow need to get Pant back into this setup to have our bases covered.

Honours shared I guess. You win the ODIs, we win the T20s.
