India tour of Australia Nov'20-Jan'21

Kohli sitting out is a pathetic joke. There's hardly been any cricket this year and if an IPL and 6 limited overs is making a batsman want to sit out and have no red ball prep before such a big test match, I really don't understand the point of this tour. It literally feels like the team is there just to ensure that Cricket Australia doesn't collapse. Also, why don't the BCCI just make Kohli chairman of selectors and president?

Was watching the innings Shaw was playing right now in the second warmup. He scored a quick fire 40.. Hitting shot after shot, going after every wide delivery and playing well away from his body. Not even having any sighters. And then gets done in by a slightly quicker delivery that jagged back in at a bit of an awkward height. Gone in the 9th over

I wonder if this is the directive he has received on what kind of impact he is supposed to make. What do you guys think?

He should be asked to go hammer and tongs of he sees the opportunity? Or play a more circumspect innings if selected in Tests and see off the new ball - run making will get easier with the softer ball

Shaw is perhaps the most overrated Indian cricketer to have worn the blue jersey in two decades. He's unfit for this generation of cricketers, has a massive ego/attitude problem and yes he's a valuable white ball player but him playing red ball with the kind of talent India has in the ranks is a testimony to the brains and intellect of this management and captain.

Regarding Shaw, I've seen him bat on a number of occasions now and his body language doesn't give out positive vibes - almost like he thinks too highly of himself. I sincerely keep hoping that it's not the case because he definitely has the potential to go big (at least in limited formats), and I think he knows that as well but for some reason isn't bothered to put in the effort to make him reach that stage.

I'm almost certain that he will play at least 3 Tests this tour and I do not have a very good feeling about it. It's a disaster waiting to happen - a free walking wicket for the Aussies. I would rather have Rohit (whom I strongly object to as a Test opener as well) in place of him if I had to choose the lesser of two evils.

Saw reports of Shaw being the most likely option to open alongside Mayank. All signs point to it being a disaster.

If KL was a Pakistan cricketer and all this nonsense was happening to him, the conspiracy theories doing the rounds could make a web series.

I think Shaw has been fed this notion by someone, somewhere, that he is the next Sehwag in the making - and there are similarities aplenty between the two:

- the see it, hit it attitude towards batting abled by a superior hand eye coordination
- the short, stout stature
- the complete disregard for fitness
- the inconsistency of scores and discomfort against the moving ball

But Shaw seems to be lacking the 'humility' that Sehwag used to have in his early days. Sehwag seemed to be grateful to get a chance while Shaw seems to think he deserves to be there. Just judging by the body language when he loses his wicket or when he is on the field and that might prove to be the big difference between the two after all

Hit. Nail. Head.

That humility from Sehwag has definitely evaporated after his playing days. He's embarrassing himself quite a lot these days with frankly, quite stupid remarks. His jibe on Maxwell yesterday was extremely poor and frankly quite inhuman considering the publicly well known mental health issues Maxwell has suffered.

Dude has become a caricature of his old self. His peers from the Fab Five club have carved important places for themselves and maintained their class, while he has been reduced to tom foolery and gimmicks on social media - as they say, easy to get to the top but hard to stay there

No one discussing the fact that Bumrah of all people was the highest scorer in the first innings :lol
I seriously didn't expect that Bumrah would go on to score 55*(57). Don't think the bowling was that good by seeing the way they bowled in early overs but someone like Bumrah scoring runs is huge. On top of it he dismissed a prolific run-scorer like Joe Burns early in the innings.

If Bumrah and co can regularly contribute 40-50 odd runs in this series, that could me a whole world of difference to our chances of winning a game or two - not sure how reliable this innings can be considered though. Last match the lower order had collapsed in both innings

I know this post might come back to bite me, but this is just a hunch. I think the way Rohit has evolved, he could win us a test on his own. Technically, I think he could tear any attack apart and Australia really should suit his game. But, Rohit is all about the head. If his head is in gear, he can make the best attack in the world look very mediocre. I actually think Lyon is the biggest threat to him if he's switched on.

If the pitch has some support for the batsmen, I also back Rohit to go and hit a big daddy century.

However, it's the difficult pitches that he won't be suitable on. A hint of movement in the pitch, and he'll be a walking wicket.

The part about his head is absolutely right.
