India tour of Australia Nov'20-Jan'21

After 2 surprisingly tight and disciplined overs from Umesh, he seems to be falling back to his in-disciplined self now :( short and wide served up on a platter, when the wicket demands to bowl a lot fuller and in the channel

India have done well to not let the openers get easy runs. But we need wickets and we need them in a burst....

Why do Kohli/Shastri keep repeating such obvious selection errors in tours outside Asia? There’s no way a team this talented shouldn’t have won in South Africa, New Zealand and England. And i’m sorry, but that win in Australia will always have an asterisk next to it. Yes, you can only face the team in front of you, but i'd be surprised if India under Kohli/Shastri beat a full strength Australian team away from home. Sadly we won’t know until the next tour, since Kohli's leaving after this match.
There are couple of problems in the Indian Team which adheres to the overseas fails in SENA Countries, more than the selection blunders.

1. Brittle opening pair.
Never has india been able to find a settled opening pair in years. These foul starts do play a huge role in the match. Shifting the momentum toward opposition.

2. Tacky Tail.
Batting ends at 8 for India. Everyone after that just swings and hopes for a fairytale. Literally no one below Ash can stay put overseas. Compare this with oppositions. Which is the next drawback.

3. Unable to all-out the opposition tail.
Be it Curran, Broad, Cummings, Southee. India gets bashed by these so called Tails but in reality, innings saviours for the oppositions.

4. Lack of genuine pace all rounder.
With Hardik unavailable. India really lacks that 4th genuine seamer which is very very crucial in SENA countries.

5. Unnecessary load on couple of players.
Let's get it straight, the whole innings is taken care of only by Pujara, Kohli or at times Rahane in the overseas matches. The other 4 of the total 7 batsmen have hardly chipped in. Which brings immense pressure on these prime saviors.

6. Lack of a lead seamer.
India has never been consistent with its lead pacers. Year after year the leader of the pack changes. First it was Ishant, then Bhuvi, then Shami, then Bumrah. Ishant is injury prone. Bhuvi isnt looked at anymore. Hopefully Shami and Bumrah stay for a while to change this.

Ofcourse, selection is a big worry for India. But until and unless these pot-holes are bridged, Indian woes in SENA will continue. Even after selection is up to mark.

I like the way the Indian bowlers have planned against Smith & Labuschagne but the fielders need to support them. They have already conceded 3 boundaries to Labuschagne because of fielding errors.

Btw not often do you see an Indian bowling line-up bowling with a plan to the best batsman of the opposition in Overseas conditions. This approach is worth appreciating. I hope they also have a backup plan with them in case the going gets tougher.[DOUBLEPOST=1608274387][/DOUBLEPOST]
Geez! Jasprit Bumrah.

That was a Sitter.
The one that Saha missed when Labuschagne was yet to get off the mark was also a half chance that was worth taking.

Finally we have Steve Smith. What a ball from Ashwin. Is this the match where Ashwin would finally nail his name in the team for Overseas tours?

Good: Wickets falling at regular intervals.
Bad: Labuschagne still at the crease. How much will the dropped catches cost India?
Ugly: Fielders dropping regulation catches...

Second spell Shami in the house .. hoping for something here

Right then, 5 down for not so many. Real test starts now.....
