India tour of Australia Nov'20-Jan'21

I wonder what the source of all the recent information is, but they are saying that Kohli gave a huge team meeting to pep up the youngsters before he leaves and that Pujara-Rahane have been given a warning. Like seriously? Indian cricket has never thrived when seniors in the side are put under pressure for their places. Our culture is not conducive for such environments. Thats why Greg Chappell had such a horrid time in India and he flustered even the timidest and quietest of all, Sachin Tendulkar.

Rahane and Pujara can't be given ultimatums..... YET! They are the backbone of India's test XI for atleast a few years now. Both of them scored in the first innings along with Kohli. In the 2nd, the entire XI crashed for peanuts. Hope this news is not true, but I won't be surprised if it is

Not aware of the ultimatum. Shreyas' update is now all over the web and news.

'They said...' - Jonty Rhodes reveals why his application for fielding coach of Team India was rejected | Cricket News

This is the Rhodes news. Apparently, it's quite well known.

Shreyas Iyer has come back with a shoulder injury which he sustained apparently during the IPL. He then plays the entire white ball leg in Australia and now suddenly he's back home and can't play the domestic tournaments. Why did he even fly to Australia then? Rohit Sharma has to undergo another fitness test before the third test? Even if we assume all this is true, you have opened a can of worms and it just seems like this was done to ensure Surya doesn't go to Australia and at the same time an excuse to just play Rohit/Rahul anywhere.

It is just not making any sense whatsoever.

This is absolute rubbish going on in Indian cricket. Right from the captain, no one seems to be accountable. And just like we have blind fans defending the captain ferociously on social media, I am sure the board management also have backing of the higher officials that makes them feel non-accountable.

We are just pure lucky that Indian cricket has built a terrific feeder system. And lot of credit for that should go to Rahul Dravid.

Is this gossip or news from a legitimate source about Pujara? What is the ultimatum exactly? Sounds absurd from the outside honestly. He's a really good Test batsman.

Ajinkya Rahane And Cheteshwar Pujara Given Strong Message By Indian Management Post Adelaide Humiliation: Report

The fact that Pujara and Rahane are given warnings itself is absurd. There was another article that used the term "ultimatum" (cant find it now). But yeah, warning to these two is ridiculous. Pujara won us the last tour in this same country. Rahane has not been the pre-2014 Rahane, but he is still very much India's dependable in test cricket after Pujara and Kohli.

And one must ask why?

I think the very fact that journalists are willing to give it in writing that Shastri or Kohli will not be removed is basically a message to us to just accept the fact that nothing is going to change till at least 2023.

Boy! This place will come alive if India find their mojo like they did under Kumble at Perth!

This time the enemy is within and India is a dangerous side when they're humiliated and cornered, even more so than Pakistan. What a story it would be if Rahane and Pujara are able to echo what we have been put through for the past 4-5 years with performances to remember.

Come on India!

I think this could be difficult than it seems. That 2008 team had the belief that Ganguly had put into that team. And that side actually wanted to win and prove themselves. This side does have all the qualities of the best sides of the world had in the past but this side lacks belief that they can do it. A loss wouldn't actually hurt them since they very much have accepted that sides don't do well abroad and these guys are very much used to thrashing sides at home back in India. The loss in the previous match would still be taken passively. I think our bowling would continue to struggle against the lower order and our batting would keep falling short.

The best chance we have to win is this match. The pitch at the MCG won't have much of life for the pacers to bowl at the batsman but certainly would keep the spinners in the game. Our batsman have to perform for us to win. SCG we have an equal chance but that weather over there is a big issue. I think we should just forget about winning at Gabba. It seems this series would end in 2-1 or 3-0 in Australia's favour. As an Indian fan I would be happy to even take a 2-2 result from here on.

The Aussie batting is pretty weak in my opinion. I think if we can put runs on the board, we are a shoe in. Had Shami and Ishant been here, I'd have had this as a 50-50 contest.

Yes.. Frankly all the overhype about "how India will be rolled over sans Virat Kohli" makes me pray hard that Rahane and this team prove them wrong and win atleast 2 tests and retain the BG trophy. I wouldn't put it past this team to do that. And if it happens, this place's EXPLODING IN JOY!!!!

There is a chance that MCG could host more than one test in this series, with the COVID situation happening in Sydney. And Sydney has also offered to host two tests. If the Gabba test does not happen, India's chances increase drastically

This current side can do what the 2007/08 team did. This one is a slightly younger side, that will be led by a calm and composed guy Rahane (like how Kumble led that team). This time, we have a far superior and very potent bowling attack, something that the 2007/08 side didn't boast of. If the fire of the Adelaide embarrassment gets into the current batters in the right proportion, we could see a stunning riposte.

Well definitely they don't have a strong batting line-up. But I think if Australia had Warner with them India would've been in pressure. This is one guy who always dominated India in this country. If I remember apart from Smith's unbelievable form Warner actually was one of the reason why we lost 2-0 during 2014-15 tour.

And I must agree that will Shami and Ishant we would've had a real chance to win this series.[DOUBLEPOST=1608831033][/DOUBLEPOST]I just heard the venues for the 3rd & 4th Test are interchanged. So I am slightly more worried now.
