India tour of Australia Nov'20-Jan'21

Also, as a Pakistani cricket fan, I am astonished that people are frustrated with India's batting. This seems like I've entered the twilight zone or something. Every team has collapses but surely we can appreciate that all in all India has a pretty solid batting line up to say the least.
I think the reason Indian fans are frustrated (and I’m referring to genuine, knowledgeable fans, not idiots whose brain has been eaten by social media) is that you can see that the sheer amount of batting talent in India is unbelievable, yet their batting order has been really unstable, selection policies have been laughable, their coach is a joke, and despite their best bowling attack ever, including a sensational talent like Bumrah and fantastic spinners, a team that should be the undisputed number one is floundering against top sides outside Asia.
I mean, Karun Nair scored 300, and was discarded. That’s just the most glaring example. Kohli hasn’t won any trophy, despite having the two best batsmen, and the best bowler in LOs. Heck, you can even look at his IPL captaincy record.

A part of me is hurting and part of me is laughing at the way India collapsed today. :lol

What an Absurd year this 2020 is!

Can't even express the emotions.
Well I just switched on my TV in the morning only to see India 36/9 and saw Shami get injured the very first ball I saw. My initial reaction was I suddenly picked up my phone and texted my friend, "Oh bhaiiiiiiiii!!!!!!! Yeh kya ho gya?" (Man!!!!!! What just happenned?)

Then he had a reliable opener who had the experience of playing Overseas and he was actually the best player in those conditions during 2013-15, now he is no longer able to get his feet in any recognized form of Cricket(Murali Vijay)
This experienced reliable opener scored 20, 6, 0 & 0 on England tour and 11, 18, 0 & 20 on Australia tour in 2018.

I don't think every Indian fan is frustrated with India's batting except for the one guy on here who is clearly having a hard time dealing with the result giving the impression that India's problem is with batting. I've not seen a single post commending Australia's bowling, it was mostly immaculate bowling from Cummins and Hazlewood, with movement off the pitch and the pink ball doing its bit moving about. I think they bowled consistently well in some really good areas with prompted the batsmen to play and there were some unplayable deliveries like the one to Pujara. The core of the Indian batting lineup is pretty damn good, it's not really the borderline issue. Today was just a masterclass of line and length bowling by the Aussies and the Indian batsmen were caught out and couldn't do anything to stem the damage. Batsmen seemed to be quite legside-ish of the ball for the most part and there were some bad shots played. But that is how cricket is, and its an unpredictable sport and that's the beauty of it. Don't think its something to be incredibly alarmed about, doubt there will be collapse of this magnitude again in the series.

For the most part the Indian fans on here are mostly frustrated with the tactical decision making of the Kohli-Shastri duo, and the fact that Kohli having way too much power as our premier batsmen and captain, in decisions such as kicking Kumble out after CT17 or using his power to rope back in a personal favorite in Shastri. It's been an underlying sentiment for a while now but again it's easy to use that to blame for today's result. Really it was just a bad day for the Indian team and they could find no sort of resistance against that spell of bowling.

I just hope that performance will wake up the management to make some tough calls that need to be made, even if that's wishful thinking. Shaw has looked out of sorts ever since the second half of the IPL, and clearly has a glaring weakness that the Aussies will continue to exploit. I wouldn't actually mind playing Rahul at the top of the order, he's been in pretty fine nick batting wise even if he hasn't played the tour games. Shubman Gill should definitely be given a chance, at 6 while everyone else moves one up. Feel confident that the team will be able to bounce back, particularly given the bowling has been impressive.

Everyone to Virat Kohli when he is returning to India now :

Bhai , please Prithvi Shaw ko bhi waapas leke aa India ...

Translation : Virat , please bring Prithvi Shaw also back to India ...

:lol:lol:lol

19 Dec 2016 - India record their highest ever score in Tests

19 Dec 2020 - The opposite of that

Btw how true is the "First time in Test match history no batsmen reached double figures in a completed innings" claim?

NZ had an opener who scored 11 in their 26 all out.

Are we counting extras as batsmen?
If Yes: False
If No: True

These things happen, even to good batting line ups.. Like @Velocity says, there are days when the bowler(s) are too good. You have to laugh, hope the team does better next time and getting skittled out for sub-100 scores doesn't become a consistent thing. Or that you have Ben Stokes to turn a disaster into a triumph.

England's third lowest was a line up with Strauss, Cook, Bell, Pietersen, Collingwood, Flintoff, Prior. You'd be hard pushed to find a stronger top 7 fielded by an England team.

My XI for next match

Mayank
Rahul
Pujara
Gill
Rahane
Pant
Jadeja
Ashwin
Bumrah
Umesh
Siraj

Well, I am just LAUGHING!!! :lol:p There is a part of me that feels sad for certain guys, but honestly I am just LAUGHING!!! :lol:D

I can see Kohli fans on social media ferociously defend his captaincy saying that he couldn't have done anything to change what happened today. But honestly, he is a big part of the chronic problem that culminated into the disaster that we saw today!! Not picking the right XI's, not allowing players to settle into their positions, all are problems for which Kohli should take the blame for. Yes, Dhoni also endured horror tours of England and Australia in the early 2010's but at that time, the Indian batting juggernaut was way past their twilights and hadn't announced their retirements and also India hadn't yet formed this super potent bowling attack for all conditions that we have at our disposal right now. Any sane Indian cricket fan who has been watching Indian cricket for quite a while and has also watched it from the time Kohli became captain, knew that as long as Kohli stays captain, India is highly prone to such deep embarrassments and it happened today.

Also a big blame goes to the management also. I dont even want to get started on that 'dummy of a coach' who is said to be blurting out his team's XI before the game over a drinking session. It's sad that when Indian cricket has established a stupendous feeder system that is spearheaded by the genius Rahul Dravid, we cant seem to pick a decent coach who can guide the national team through and help them realize their potential.

I still retain my hope and excitement for the MCG test and beyond. Somehow my mind still says India will fare better under Rahane (or even Pujara or Ashwin for that matter if they captain the test side). This is not going to be 4-0 by any means. We have a way better and younger side right now than what we had under Dhoni (during those horrid tours) and I am sure if we take this side and time travel to the 2010s and give Dhoni today's side, he would reverse those results. Let's hope Rahane can do it. Good thing for him is, the management will be so embarrassed by this defeat that they will **likely** let Rahane lead on his own way.

Playing Jadeja ahead of Vihari is risky though.

Not really! MCG will be very different. Back to the red ball, a drop-in pitch, back to day games and a ground that in recent times has favored batting and slowness. In such conditions, Jadeja can be a good bet over Vihari.

I am tilting towards Saini over Siraj (to replace Shami). Saini has accumulated quite a bit of international experience by playing for India in limited overs, and it only makes sense that he gets the chance over Siraj.
