India tour of Australia Nov'20-Jan'21

He is due, no doubt about that. And he tends to step up when it's needed the most so I'm kinda fearing the inevitable in the 3rd Test.
Maybe in a scenario when India have some 30 run lead and they drop Smith and he goes on to score a double hundred. Yeah very much the possibility.

Lol..... Vikram Sathaye just nailed it!!!!! :lol

There is no harm in celebrating at a bar. To each his own. It's about knowing one self and understanding so to speak your job. Shastri is there to make sure this team creates headlines with their performances (if this was Bangladesh then maximising resources) but Shastri likes to be the headlines.

I find such people tweeting to be the biggest hypocrites. They themselves judge every tom dick and harry and the moment the mirror is shown they will turn around and tell you "Who are you to judge/tell me?"

I agree to you. I just found it a bit funny so I posted it.

Umesh ruled out the series. There is word that Shardul Thakur is set to replace him. I've mixed feelings about this.

On the bowling front, I'm sceptical about Thakur's ability to be effective on Australian pitches while his batting abilities might help India with their long tail which has struggled to stitch together 30-60 runs at the end.

I hear that Saini's niggle could be the reason why Shardul is being talked about playing in place of Umesh. Guess Saini is not 100%. If he was 100%, he is the better choice and he can bat a bit too (though not like Shardul, but Saini got a good 40 in NZ conditions).

Either Thakur or Saini can replace Umesh. Both are almost like-for-like except for the experience. I dont mind either. I am not confident that Natarajan deserves a debut ahead of these two. He needs to use his new found success in T20 and go back to domestic cricket and work harder and get to a place where he is deemed ready for tests.

Shardul, T. Natarajan, and Kartik are already there as net bowlers. Even though I am very excited about Kartik and his potential, he is still very raw, and it's definitely not a good idea to add him to the test squad right now. So, I am pretty sure it will be Shardul and Natarajan who will be added as replacements for Umesh and Shami.

Shardul Thakur is obviously more experienced than Natarajan when it comes to first-class cricket, and his batting is only going to help his case. The only thing in favour of Natarajan is the variety he will provide with his left arm.

However, Saini was already in the squad, so it will be interesting to see who will replace Umesh in the final 11. I know Saini is regarded as a better red ball bowler than a white-ball bowler, but his discipline will be something that will be important.

It is crazy to think that we don't have Ishant, Shami, Umesh and Bhuvi, and we are still 1-1 in this test series. It is ridiculous how injury-prone Bhuvi has become in the last few years. I was also hoping to see Ishant at some point in this tour, but it is unfortunate that he needs to prove his match fitness before playing.

I would definitely pick Shardul Thakur ahead of Navdeep Saini for Sydney and the opposite in Brisbane. Shardul Thakur is what we call in cricketing circles "maal" with the white ball but he's a damn good red ball bowler and he can pick wickets in clusters with the new ball. If he's bowling 140 like he was in the ODI's, I'd pick him for Sydney. I also feel Saini is the type of bowler the Aussies will prefer as they can hang back on him.

He is proven performer in Ranji Trophy which people seems to ignore here. Has been doing well in red ball cricket since 2014 playing for Mumbai.

I agree. Whenever I get the opportunity, I sneak into Eden Gardens to watch some domestic cricket as there is no crowd and it's very peaceful to watch. On one such excursion I saw a spell from Shardul Thakur and he was making the ball dance left and right as he pleased. OK, the Eden is a good track for quick bowlers but he has a quality to nip it off the seam and swing it prior to that. I want to see what speeds he's bowling because while that is secondary it does play a bigger role in Oz than England.

What basis does Rohit Sharma become the vice-captain of India in Tests? When you have people like Pujara and Ashwin and yet to make Rohit your Test vice-captain then you seriously lack brains big time!!!! Does Rohit even deserve that? Now this is an indication that he would play at the SCG.

I Think it gives Responsibility To Rohit Sharma So That he can perform well in overseas Test

Mixed feelings as a Rohit fan but, I'm a lot more confident about him performing in test cricket, but does he deserve this? No. But I'm happy for him. :D

If this is a breach, it should be dealt with very seriously. If this is a breach, Rohit Sharma really needs to ask himself some serious questions. Seasoned pro behaving like a child after all the farce pertaining to his selection on a day the BCCI chairman has had a cardiac arrest. Ridiculous!
