India tour of Australia Nov'20-Jan'21

It was drinks break. The sweeper cleaned the popping crease and then Smith did that scrubbing. So he wasn't trying to do foul play.

Obviously he isn't a red ball guy yet. But wrt the current situation in the Indian camp. Playing him might give the team proper balance.

No. Just because his description as a player is 'all rounder' doesn't mean he has the skill set in either facet to qualify as a test cricketer.

Fair enough. I don't think he ever meant to do it on purpose in the first place. Just as an international cricketer, you need to be aware of such things and not have any 'brain-fade' moments. But as I said, unneeded hue and cry over this

Going with Washy for the last Test is going to make no sense - he is not an attacking spinner and can easily be picked up for runs and will relieve the pressure from one end for the Aussies. And he is not a good enough batsman to replace someone like Vihari either.

Shardul is a better option if we are looking to have an additional bowling 'all-rounder'.

Saha, Shardul, Kuldeep, Saini, Siraj will have to be our tail. The top and middle order will simply have to step up and do the bulk of the scoring. But Natarajan gives us variety .. tough call between him and Shardul

How about,

Rohit
Gill
Pujara
Rahane
Pant
Saha/Shaw
Ashwin
Shardul
Saini
Siraj
Natarajan

4 quicks and a spinner. Has to be Ash in this case else we got only 5 batsmen and a struggling Saha/Shaw to rely on

Will Pucovski has been ruled out of the final test. Marcus Harris to open with Warner.

Agarwal
Sharma
Pujara
Gill
Rahane
Pant
Saha
Thakur
Yadav
Saini
Siraj

A fit team and well and truly capable of fighting the Aussies. I would definitely not risk Pant wicketkeeping this test, Bumrah & Ashwin will be needed badly in the home series and the latter is a huge fitness worry and I was sceptical about his fitness from day 1. There is no point pushing either bowler to break down because they won't get us results in this test match and also lead to future issues. Good time to play Kuldeep as he will be more effective on this track due to the bounce and Thakur will be more than a handful on this track.

What is the speed Thakur bowls at?

Bowled in the mid 130s last I saw him but that was in the shorter formats. Then again, he has apparently worked on increasing his pace to be more consistent in a spell. Would have opted for Natarajan as the X-factor in the presence of a Jadeja to cover for his overs if needed but in his absence Thakur seems to be a better alternative.

With the injuries and all, it would be unfair to expect India to win but I'll keep a small, tiny window of hope that they do.

Do you mind if someone from the enemy camp joins the forum for the Brisbane Test. Trolls forced me from my last cricket forum.

To date the series has been enthralling. Sorry about the 36 all out.. no I'm not sorry. An exceptional spell of seam bowling by Hazlewood & Cummins. You guys showed great character to come back in the next match.. we just happened to have a shocker in the field. What a match the third Test was. We drove the game and looked in the box seat up til the last morning. Hats off to the determination and perseverance your batsman showed to draw the match. Specially given your horrendous injury toll. Exceptional effort.
. Where are the smilies?

Now to Brisbane and Fortress Gabba.. a place at which the BCCI do not like playing. No surprise as India has never beaten Australia there (stand corrected) and we have not lost a series there since 1988.
Our young gun Will Pucovski has succumbed to his shoulder injury. The kid seems a touch injury prone. Cameron Green is settling into Test cricket nicely. His first Test wicket is not far off. He will enjoy bowling on the bouncier Gabba track. I fear our bowling attack.. specially Cummins and Hazlewood may be be feeling a touch spent after their herculean performance on that last day and the short turnaround between matches.. I wanted Starc replaced but seems he is undroppable.

Is Bumrah playing or not? He was out due to an abdominal strain as late as yesterday but now there is a chance the BCCI will risk him. I know how much you want to defeat us but the quick with the quirky action is important to your future success. Who are you guys playing next? Tell me something about the new bowlers.

Washington Sundar and T Natarajan are making their Test debuts.
