So, another marquee series is coming our way. A new look India + new captain, will they be able to make any inroads into the English home record?

Itinerary
20th June Leeds
2nd July Birmingham
10th July Lord's
23rd July Manchester
31st July The Oval

England 3- India 1 IMO

That victory might come at Manchester. The Oval will most likely see a draw.

Looking at the votes, I salute the optimism of some.

I am a bit surprised that we havent opted for a practice game vs any county team. Instead of relying on an Intra-squad match i.e. India v India 'A', would have been better to play England Lions or any one else.

Concept: the day is Wednesday 23rd July. England are 2-0 down in the series after a spate of injuries ran through the bowling attack like a vegetable vindaloo on a cold winter's day.

Gill wins the toss and announces that India will bat first.

Stand-in captain Ollie Pope hands over the England team sheet and announces that they've had to recall a player who they believe is the best available option at that moment. A player with loads of wickets for his county this year.

At 11:00, Jimmy Anderson runs in to bowl from the Jimmy Anderson End in the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy

I knew the Pataudi trophy was being retired, but does it also mean they are retiring the Anthony D'Mello trophy too?

I dont mind them calling it after SRt and Anderson, but would have been better to name it after those who actually had a stellar time during these series- Ganguly- Strauss/ Dravid-Cook

Jimmy has 149 wickets at 25.47 v India, twice as many as any other Englishman. Sachin has the most runs by an Indian v England, averages 51 and seven centuries. And he's Sachin. If you're going to pick two players it's going to be them.

Although I find these kind of things are just another form of marketing, in the past they felt like they meant something. Now it's just feels like it's done to make a series sound more important and because the majority of fans have no idea who D'Mello or Patuadi are. Everyone wants their test series to seem as important and historic as the Ashes.
