India tour of New Zealand - Jan to Feb 2014

This is ridiculous. Another 300+ score? And was that some sort of a record from Williamson? At least should be a NZ record.

Slow start again. Looks like another 50 for Dhoni is on the cards and India losing by 30-40 runs.

There doesn't need to be a clear #1 in ODIs, War, because nobody gives a shit. If you win the World Cup and the Champions Trophy, it doesn't matter if you lose every other match.

Cricket does not or has never worked that way across any format. Cricket is a game essentially where you prove your the best, by winning more games away/home that your opponents. So the pre world cup year bilateral series have much credence (although it gets diluted at times due boards playing for money & daft scheduling)

World Cups are just like the Champions league in football - the best team in the world doesn't always win it - sometimes just the team that played the best in the tournament, which can happen in knockout competitons. In cricket only when AUS 03/07 & WI 75/79 won, did the clear best team in the world, win the world cups.

In C-Trophy's only S Africa 98, AUS 06 & 09.

Really impressed with Henry so far, probably unlucky not to be in the test squad ahead of Bracewell. Maybe its time India brought Sehwag and Gambhir back, not sure about a lot of Indias current top order really.

Gambhir may be but sehwag is in no condition to be brought back....but we need someone like sehwag who can atleast blast a quick 30 at the top

but i think the prob lies in sharma, put pujara and dhawan or gambir and pujara it will give the stability needed overseas.

Ye he doesn't look have bad, looks better than Bennett (although he was fine too). Clearly this is the most talented group of fast bowlers NZ have had since circa 98-2002 when Allot, Cairns, Nash, Bond, O'Connor, Doull, Martin, Tuffey, Butler emerged - but majority careers were ended due to injury.

Hopefully for you guys - this crop stays fit together.

Also i wonder, has N McCullum ever been considered for tests? I know his FC record ain't nothing special - but watching him in ODIs over the years - skill wise he doesn't look any less talented than guys like Nicky Boje, Pat Symcox, Roger Harper or Ash Giles who managed to forge respectable test careers, doing set roles as test spinners.

I would genuinely consider him, I still feel its far too early for Sodhi but the selectors love him so despite any bad performances he will remain in the team.

Don't know what India were doing in that run chase, they didn't even attempt to go after it. I'm hopeful they'll put up a better effort in the tests but I'm not even sure, most of them look like they want to go home already.

Further proof that India away from home are utterly useless.

Well played New Zealand.

Already seen a few Indian fans bringing out the old wait til you play us at home...

Those Indian cricket fans don't know cricket if they say "wait til you play us at home." They are right - India won't lose in India, but the WC isn't at 'home.' And flat tracks that make each bowling attack in the world docile makes for some boring cricket.

India came all that way....four - nothing.

Due to the way Indian cricket works in general, these defeats will be brushed aside and then all the fans will be distracted by the IPL mania.

I think over the last 18 months or more, India have had a pretty terrible record overseas.

The worst part is that, some players will continue in the team despite repeated failures on the basis of their "potential".

Nothing has changed in Indian cricket. Whatever little India gained during the era of Sourav Ganguly's captaincy in terms of winning overseas, has been lost.

Some Indian fans may say so, but I think winning overseas is a matter of justifiable pride for discerning fans.
