India tour of New Zealand - Jan to Feb 2014

"Rohit Sharma is going to hit Hundred in First Match against NZ"

I got the feeling that we really underestimated the New Zealand bowlers. With all the hype surrounding Steyn, Morkel and co. in the South Africa series, our batters seemed more mentally up for the challenge. Here Southee, Boult, and Wagner have bowled with equal amount of skill, and we don't seem to be in the right place mentally, especially after the shellacking we got at the hands of McCullum.

Half the problem is caused by the Indian team not playing enough cricket overseas. If your young guys learned their cricket on the road, especially your bowlers, they would be all the better for it. Ishant blew the world away debuting in Australia years ago, since that series I would wager the majority of his cricket has been spent in the Sub Continent and IPL games...

The more players you can get playing on the county circuits and touring different conditions in South Africa, Australia and the UK the better they'll be.

One of the best things to happen to Pakistan is them being forced out of the comforts of the Sub Continent.

Our batsmen were not up to the challenge in South Africa. We didn't win a single ODI. We drew a test and lost another quite horrifically.

I think you are sounding greek and latin, because we only play more IPLs/CLs with the biggest craze and spirit to win those money. Who cares about touring INTL circuits and loosing the games? If someone has cared, we would have woken up years ago? isn't it?

Not sure who is to be blamed - cricket media fans supporting the money minded leagues with craze encouraging the corrupted governing bodies to get hold of more & more fishes or ... << running out of words! >>

To be frank, I am more interested to see whether Bangladesh will survive the last day against Lankans - that match is more interesting than this!

We have such a packed schedule that they don't have any time off to go and play county cricket unless they are dropped from the team. If they do somehow find the time from the schedule than BCCI won't allow them to go anywhere.

They still play on the roads of UAE.

Been to both of the first two days, might as well get the most out of what will probably be the last Test in Auckland for a while considering the poor crowds. I paid $50 for an adult match pass so I'm not sure why people are complaining about the prices, sort your shit out a month in advance and you can get a massive bargain considering I'll also be going to Sunday and probably Monday as well (got my own game tomorrow).

Tbf though Eden Park does look like a horrible place for test cricket. Why can they not play on the outer oval instead? I mean if we played the tests here at the Stadium instead of the Basin we wouldn't get that many people in either. Would've been better off playing this test at Seddon Park or Uni Oval at least they are proper cricket grounds.

Today, it looked like we were playing an ODI game where we had to chase 300+ score. As I mentioned in my last post, Rahane poking his bat outside off stump to the ball swinging away from him which is a typical Rahane dismissal. Rohit playing an aggressive shot and throwing his wicket away. Dhoni as hopeless as ever outside the subcontinent never looked comfortable out there. I don't know if Zaheer even knows how to bat anymore. It looked like they were playing gully cricket.

Really poor stuff from India, I said halfway through the ODI series they didn't even look like they want to be out there and its even worse now. Its a shame because I'm starting to take for granted just how well we have done in this tour because of the opposition playing so poorly.

Finally India are doing something, have a feeling it might be a bit too late though I mean we are still 300 odd ahead only need another hundred runs really.

Whoa, 15/4!!!! Taylor is still there. If someone bats around him (of course with him batting in himself), then NZ can still set an out of reach target for India. I think 500+ would be out of reach for India here. If India can pick Taylor up cheap after lunch, they could run through NZ pretty handsomely and set themselves up for a 400 odd chase, which would still be daunting.

LOL India is already out of this game. We can't even chase 300 on this pitch.

Whatever it is, at least its great to watch the play right now with India playing with tons of intensity. Even if we can go down with a fight, I wouldn't mind it. Shami just cleaned up Anderson there with a beauty! 26/5 and the lead is 327. Funny things have happened in cricket before.

Its just a shame this kind of intensity wasn't there earlier in the match.
