India tour of New Zealand - Jan to Feb 2014

Am I missing something here? Why are people in love with Stuart Binny? Mediocre record in both FC and List-A. I don't remember a great standout IPL performance either.

India needs to play with a pace all-rounder. We have great need to develop or improve some pace all-rounders who can play for team on Aussie, SA, NZ pitches where it demands more. On AUS, NZ & SA pitches spin all-rounders proves themselves useless one....... So time to move for something and we don't have enough good options as a pace all-rounder. Pathan is one more but he isn't as good as Binny in recent performances.

Lets be realistic, If potentials like Aaron is not getting a chance - we are expecting something to change for Binny over Jadeja? In particular, this guy(Jadeja) has been the pet of Dhoni somehow! :p Definitely it means that our captain has finally opened his eyes if this happens.

LOL - I asked the same question 2 pages back. He doesn't even deserve to be picked in the squad. Are we that desperate for a 'bowling allrounder'? His bowling doesn't even look that impressive - seems to be at Kohli's level.

Apparently Raina might be injured according to cricinfo preview - should definitely get Rayudu in his place, coming in at no.5. Varun for Ishant. Ideally would love to see Rahane swapped with Rohit, but that's not happening.

We don't really have room for both Ashwin and Jadeja, because they are too similar but I doubt that will change through the series

I think Ashwin should be replaced long before Jadeja. Jadeja has far more control and brings other skills to the table - especially his electric fielding. I can totally see why Dhoni would want to get him in the eleven as much as possible.

Ashwin just seems to be bowling purposelessly. He wasn't a mystery bowler or anything, but he just seems conflicted between trying to control and trying to take wickets. I don't see him bowling with a lot of flight to try to entice batsmen, and he's not getting the awkward bounce he should with his height. Some of that has to do with factors outside his control - pace bowlers not taking top-order wickets, the new rules forcing him to use a much newer ball - but he's not doing the things he used to do well.

I said this before as well that we need to take wickets in the middle overs to put pressure on them. Nobody is doing that right now and that is why NZ reach 300 every single time. It's Ashwin and Jadeja's job to provide those wickets in the middle overs but they are both failing at it currently. However, after the first match Dhoni said that he would never play 4 fast bowlers which is a worrying sign for Binny. I hope he realizes that it is not working for him and he needs to bring Binny in especially for today where pace is more likely to play part than spin.

Bhuvi has bowed well at the death overs giving that much needed control to Dhoni but he is also not doing his job properly. His job is to take early wickets because that is the time he will be most threatening with the new ball doing a bit. I don't think I have seen him do that since the champions trophy in England last year. He was very ineffective against Australia, WI and also against South Africa in South Africa. It is Shami who is taking most of the wickets and the rest are coming in the death overs when NZ players are going all guns blazing.

My two changes for today's game would be:
Ashwin out - Binny in
Ishant out - Varun Aaron in

Good luck getting Jadeja and Ashwin replaced, they both play for Dhonis CSK. Its a shame that comes into it really.

I thought only Indians indulged in such talk. :rolleyes

Jadeja and Ashwin both have not played games in recent times where Dhoni has dropped them.

I got a good one - the way Dhoni is persisting with Ishant, looks like Ishant is all set to be bought by CSK for IPL7

Well guess what, Ishant is out, Aaron is in! India must win now right??? :D

I think India should just rotate the squad for the rest of the series, this is their chance to see new players in foreign conditions. But since the series is almost lost, I don't think India will. They'll play their best guys to try and get back in it - and get that #1 rank back from Australia.

And Ashwin takes a wicket after a long long time. Still, those are unimpressive figures of 1-47. He should have been more economical, or should have got one more wicket or two. Dull start for Aaron today. Hope he can still comeback in the death overs. He is generally good in the slog overs in IPL.

Right now, NZ look set for 325+. India need a very good performance in the death to keep them below 300.

India have really pushed the NZ scoring rate down - 300 seeming difficult all of a sudden.

I was wondering from morning that why ESPN Cricinfo was delaying the live commentary. I checked and got to this conclusion :noway

Delayed reporting of Cricket scores and providing ball by ball commentary online, following an interim order from Delhi High Court order.
This is following a case filed by Multi Screen Media, which has the TV, Internet and Mobile rights to the series, and is broadcasting the series on its TV channel Sony Six and online at Sony Liv.

What the Court orders ?

The Delhi High Court has granted an interim injunction, restricting Cricinfo, Cricbuzz and RadioOne from providing:

- live/contemporaneous text match commentary of the cricket series between India-New Zealand
- exploiting or authorizing the exploitation of cricket match-related material/information/details including but not limited to current cricket score, ball-by-ball updates, score cards, score updates, alerts, etc.

That's hilariously bad. It's one thing to restrict broadcasting but how in the world is Cricinfo live commentary even a competitor for the channels. India is so incredibly corrupt.

Haha! Shami and Bhuvi aren't a perfect bowlers yet. They can't bowl yorkers in last overs or can't stop opponents either. They can't bowl a bouncer properly. Both were bowling a bouncer with 120 KMH speed which was F***ed by Guptill. Aaron could bowl bouncers very beneficially. He could done perfect job in last overs but Dhoni wasn't looking creative. Aaron can bowl yorkers and those 35 nonsensitive runs by last pair could have been stopped. Jeez my legend, Dhoni....... :(
