I don't understand this Ewen guy. He has a big run up but he only bowls 120s. What gives?

Sehwag on fire. 101 off just 60 delivery. India have complete on the match.

Oh wait Rain had come. Players are leaving field. For using D/L , India had to play minimum of 20 overs.

rain again!!!geez this is extremely frustrating

LOL this Kiwi bowlers are reminding me off the England Bowlers haha

Sehwag and Gambhir :hpraise

The rain is so annoying:mad:. It's ruining NZ's chances.

Are u sure now? I thought it was India's chances few minutes ago :p Anyways, this match will produce a result for sure now :) India is going to win the ODI series in NZ    seriously i didnt expect this... Shocking! And happy too ... :)

Lol 40 of 88
;)

bang a SIX!! Kiwi bowlers are better than English at least

Amazing display of power and strokeplay by India today.400 would not have been enough for NZ today. They have been unstoppable.

Iam convinced that Sehwag is the most dangerous batsman in world cricket now. With just 18 to win, India look set to wrap up the series 3-0. This is definitely the best ODI batting lineup India have ever had and the most destructive batting lineup in ODI cricket currently.

Many non-Indians on this forum were hoping that this would finally be the series where the Indian bubble bursts but it has`nt. India have gone on to register their 4th consecutive ODI series win (CB Series 2008,SRL in Sri Lanka,ENG in India,SRL in Sri Lanka and now NZ in NZ).What has been really refreshing is that 4 out of the last 5 ODI series win have come away with only the England series being played at home. The New Zealand monkey is finally off the Indian backs !

You were seriously underestimating the Indian side.

We should win this. This isn't a 300 pitch but in 50 overs that's what we were on target for. We just have to bowl well. Simple as that.

You are right ! This sure was`nt a 300 pitch. With the mood Sehwag was in,India might`ve scored 400 had they batted first!

Bunch of pie chuckers.

Sad thing is that is basically the best we have right now. Will be more of the same at Auckland.

Should get Franklin in for Thompson and Diamanti in for O'Brien let them score 350 to 400 and with us batting down to 11 just try and chase it.

Hmmm well I did not under estimate the Indian side... My only worries were our bowling. But Praveen, Ishant and Zaheer have done tremendous job. But my view on Munaf never changed from worse. :p And more than these specialist bowlers, Yuvraj singh/Yusuf Pathan did a very good job with the ball too.

I was worried about Indian bowling because of those RPSinghs and Munafs and Balajis ( ofcourse he did play only a game in his comeback.. still :p ).

Regarding Sehwag, being a natural strokemaker, he cannot be a reliable player. He hits and goes. When he hits, its becoming much easier for us to win the games. Also surprisingly Sachin has smashed the NZ bowlers only after Sehwag gets out :D

Well, now lets look for a whitewash to win in dominative style :)

Dead Rubber coming up so expect a defeat in that. India is doing what Aussies used to do in last 15 years.

Sehwag is awesome. Some of those shots were savage. Get Tendulkar back at the top of the order with him on this form and India will be unbeatable, especially with the likes of Dhoni, Raina and Yuvraj giving it a smack in the middle overs, and then some quality seam bowling from Zaheer and Ishant. Looking a top class side at the minute................ unfortuantely. :p

Yeah he's a terrible selection. How he does well in domestic and first class is beyond me.

I was very wrong. We got smashed. The reason was we didn't take an early wicket.

Without being a bad sport, Sehwag has been pretty lucky this series and this game in particular. I think most people who have been watching will agree with me. He's taken his chances and they've come off for him, so good on him. But some of the edges going wide, mis-hits landing over fielder's heads and plays and misses etc. We just can't get him out for some reason. He slogs at good length balls and the bowlers try do something different and give him half volleys and long hops. I think the bowlers we have aside from Mills who has actually bowled reasonably well to him lack experience (well they do and the stats show that). Mills has stuck to his lines for the most but the others haven't. He's a great player, no denying that. Easily one of the best batters around right now in all forms, but you just feel on another day he'd be getting out.

D/L didn't help us. Always better to bat last and it really just turned into a Twenty/20 and that total after the start was easy.

It's been a batting series and unfortunately the Indian batsmen have been on fire and although the NZ top order has matched it almost, our middle order has crumbled and the Indian one have carried on with the good start. Another point is that the NZ batters have thrown their wickets away whilst the Indians haven't. The bowling attacks aren't that dis-similar. We have Mills and Vettori both top 5 ranked bowlers with Oram the top all-rounder. Mills and Oram are a bit rusty coming back from injury with no games and Vettori operates best with pressure on. With bad starts India don't have any pressure on them. They're full of confidence by the time he comes on. He's bowled alright this series but had no support.

The problem is we have no fire-power. Southee may have gotten smacked a bit but he destroyed England and did well in Australia. He only got 1 go, he should have been given the chance to fix himself. Judging bowler performance on a game on the world's smallest cricket ground and one of the flattest pitches is a bit unfair. O'Brien has bowled good balls and Sehwag has slogged him. Prime example was his first over today. Good length ball, slogged down the ground. Then he goes for the yorker and gives him a legside half volley. He needs to be kept.

Lastly, Chris Martin is sadly the closest thing we have to a strike bowler. We can't use Shane Bond. He hasn't had a go in a long time, had a good domestic season and gets natural inswing which could help against Sehwag.

But anyway well done to India. I just hope we can win the 4th game because I honestly think we haven't played as badly as a 4-0 defeat would suggest. Luck has to go our way at some stage.

Oh and about Shane Bond. I would honestly select him as soon as the Indian series is over. We don't play India again for a long time so what can they do about it? Take the $25 million revenue we get from this series and then stick it up them. What are they going to do, pull out of the Twenty/20 World Cup? They can't kick us out.

Lucky for NZ they batted first or India might have posted 400 in 40 overs with Sehwag getting 200.

I disagree. You can't presume things like that. The score NZ had on the board would have affected everything from field placings, pitch conditions, bowler rotations, batsmen's mind-sets, bowler's mind-sets etc. India would have been batting in a totally different scenario so to presume India would have been 201 without loss if they'd have batted first is a very stupid and incorrect assumption. It's a very fascinating thing to think about. Plus a different time of the day. Maybe Sehwag had extra time to get some practice before the game. Maybe him running around in the outfield helped him understand the pitch and conditions a lot better. Maybe the rain-breaks helped him re-focus and if he had batted first there wouldn't have been those breaks.

To say, if India could have kept batting longer, let's say if it was a 2 innings ODI, they coulda done that is a fair call. Maybe. But still, very next ball Sehwag could have gotten out. We don't know because it didn't happen.

Bowling was the right option with the D/L advantage anyway. We cocked the toss up again.
