My Team for the next game:

1.Jesse Ryder (3)
2.Brendon McCullum
3.Martin Guptill
4.Ross Taylor
5.Neil Broom
6.Grant Elliot (6)
7.Peter McGlashan
8.Jacob Oram (2)
9.Nathan McCullum (5)
10.Kyle Mills (1)
11.Daniel Vettori (4)

Then we can chase down atleast 400 lol. Actually I would like to see Mitch McClenaghan in the NZ team. He is a left-armer capable of bowling 145-150, and sadly that is what we have been missing. A strike bowler.

What a day! Just what a day! I just don't know what to say about Sehwag- he is...he is just awesome. Wow! It was one kind of a match. And I really feel that had India batted first and had there been no rains the cricket-world could have experienced the first ODI double century by an individual today. And irottev, guys like Sehwag don't study pitches or try and understand the outfield. They just go there and whack. Otherwise, how can you explain such an innings whilst chasing a really formidable total like 270? A pure entertainer- ya, that's what he is. And that's what makes him unique. Another thing I don't understand why did the Kiwis drop Southee? He's quite a good bowler, and he has so far failed in just a single match of this series, the guy Vettori replaced Southee with- Thompson, he got hit for 10 runs a over- more or less the same bowling, what's the difference? But Southee- he was an all-rounder, he knew how to whack the ball and he was also quite experienced. Really strange.

Screw line and length its not working we just need someone who can run in and bowl 150kph+ and spray the ball everywhere works for Johnson and Tait. :D

I will take lucky Sehwag over McCullum anyday.

Strange sums up the selectors to a T. Some players get heaps of opportunities and some players like Southee get dropped constantly. I think he's already been dropped 4 times and he's only been in the game around a year. It's absolutely ridiculous.

They ignore experienced players like Franklin, Martin, etc to fill the shoes of Butler (who was our best bowler this series and it sucked to lose him) and bring in Thompson who opens the bowling bowling pies at 114kmph. That's far too defensive. To get a wicket at 114km you're really giving up and asking for a batter's mistake. The NZ mindset is just disgusting and the sooner the series is over the sooner it will go away. I don't get how we can 2-0 the Twenty/20s which we're meant to be terrible at and then just lose all confidence in 10 seconds for the ODIs which we just drew (and would have won) a series against Australia in.

I think we're just going through a bad patch or something. It just baffles me.

Good for you, but i'd take both. There's 2 opening slots and a keepers slot. Why pick one?

India > Australia at the moment. ;)

What do you think about Mitch McClenaghan. Do you think he is ready.

Another concern I have is Guptill against spinners he has been out to them a couple of times this series albeit unlucky but he just can't seem get runs off them his innings today was terrible and we can't have him coming in at 4 when there is spin coming from both ends. I do not want them to mess with our current openers either Ryder and McCullum have been doing well.

Yeah Guptill has looked bad against the Spinners, so did McCullum though. I don't think many people in the NZ team can play spin very well.

Struggling and winning won't help in determination of who was the best in their business... I can surely say,

In SA Vs Aus in Aus --> SA were best in their business ( I was supporting SA in that series )

In NZ Vs Aus in Aus --> Aus were best in their business including the first ODIs irrespective whether they lost or won. Aus fought and made Kiwis struggle for their wins. ( I was supporting Kiwis to win the series in fact but was disappointed totally from the way they played cricket )

In Ind vs NZ in NZ ---> India were best in their business. ( I expected NZ to win the ODI series in fact because of our bowling )

Overall, Dominative style of cricket was indeed absent in NZ internally!

Vettori plays spin very well should send him up the order when India attempt to use there part timers.

As for McClenaghan no I would rather not throw another new guy into it right now we need to go back to the experienced guys. Franklin, Martin, Butler (when hes fit) would like to see Bell again for the tests as well.

Edit: Also the new guys that we have picked such as Guptill, Southee etc we need to stick with for a period of time can't just keep dropping them after one or two bad games. We need to build a squad of good players and stick with them we can't keep changing half the team after one series.

I totally agree. But that wasn't my point. I was talking about confidence and though we'd just come off a good series, we seemed to have none. Sadly Mills and Oram were injured so I can kinda unserstand. But O'Brien and Southee were a big part of it.

For Tests, McIntosh keeps his place for sure and Flynn also. I'm not worred about Flynn's ODI form, it's irrelevant. It's a toss up between Bell and Redmond for me. Guptill maybe but i'd like to see him have a really good first class season and earn it. Bowling-wise, O'Brien of course but who else? Martin's short on games and had a very unimpressive game for NZA (i'd still have Martin though in the side due to his experience) Southee we will probably have to go with. Franklin was good for NZA.

Brent Arnel is an interesting name. He has a way more impressive first class record then i'd have ever guessed. He performed probably the best of the NZA Bowlers too. I dunno anything about him. I just looked at his stats.

as much as i enjoyed the sehwag CARNAGE :D

am finding this whole series quite boring !! the pitches are like those in india !! no competition between the bat and ball, extra small boundaries, placid tracks etc..

and given the reputation and history of NZ pitches its a shame really.....
i hope this things turn around drastically during the test matches !

atleast in india the spinners have more of a chance but here even that isnt happening

Devastating display there from Sehwag, outscored Gambhir 2-1.

Wish I had seen some of that carnage, and Sehwag shows once again why he is one of the masters of the modern game - in all forms! Absolute match winner, great to watch at his best.
