How gutless is Virender Sehwag - Sending Rahul Dravid out to open to protect his average.

Cricinfo - 3rd Test: India v South Africa at Kanpur, Apr 11-13, 2008 - Last innings, India only needed 62 runs to win and still Sehwag opened the batting and went after Harris. I would hardly call that gutless. Were you in the Indian dressing room when the decisions were made one who wanted to/should open the batting? No. You don't know why Sehwag didn't open, you just assume he is gutless so you can just continue jerking of Haydens stats.

Maybe Sehwag had to finish his Parathas?

Taylor would be such a good batsman if he got some damn temperament. He's always in ODI mode.

Yeah, obviously because the conditions were favourable to batting. After several innings in South Africa & New Zealand as an Opening Batsman, Sehwag has an overall average of 9.

True opening batsman always open the batting unless of sickness or injury.

Do I have to say it again? Dhoni wanted Rahul Dravid to get into even better touch because he felt Sehwag was already in good nick. Understood? Good.

I'm sure Ben understands that and is just pulling your leg.

When Harbhajan and Sehwag just rolled over South Africa for 121 in the previous innings? If you had watched the match then you would have saw how much the ball was turning.

Chill guys aussie ben is more mentally unstable after seeing Sehwag's inning ;) (ODI)

NZ will come back hard that's very obvious India should not experiment now though resting Munaf is a better option and bringing Dhaval or Balaji

Dhaval :happy!!

Resting Munaf? I know he's not the most physically fittest cricketer around, but I didn't know he was that unfit that he gets tired after 1 Test Match. Why rest someone who is at the top of their game righit now? We should only rest players if we win the next Test Match.

Yeah, it was but really Sehwag should've opened.

For some who gets selected to open the batting, it is their responsibility to open at all times.

Hello Mr. Great Grandfather,

Welcome to the current generation of 'floaters' where a batsman does not bat at one single position. Sehwag is picked to play for India, he is not specifically picked to open. He will even bat at No.11 when India needs him to.

Coming to the game, a great performance from Bhajji. Was eagerly waiting for him to hit the straps and he finally did it with a 6-wkt haul. Winning it with one day to spare in overseas conditions is a brilliant achievement and its our first win in NZ after 32 years (I guess!)

@ Indian viewers, Did anyone notice after presentation ceremony? Charu Sharma and Arun Lal did say that Sachin Tendulkar has dedicated this MOTM to the Tigers of India. If anyone outside India is wondering what was that, Tiger species are becoming extinct and which is supposed to be our national animal. Hence to preserve those, I guess he should have contributed those money he received.

I am so proud to have such legendary character which he exhibits on/off the field as my role model! Sachin!!! Sachin!!! Sachin!!:hpraise :hpraise :hpraise

I guess mr Ben has just started watching cricket.

We didn't lose by an innings so i'm happy. Next test we'll have a closer to 100% line up with Oram back and hopefuly Southee and or Patel. Mills isn't test material, he was a stupid selection. My eleven:

McIntosh (Can't dump him after a few bad innings, he's scored a test hundred plus was hard done by by the umpires)
Guptill (Showed he's very capable, just needs experience)
Flynn (Again, showed capability, though his poor catching cost us a LOT)
Taylor
Ryder
Oram
McCullum
Vettori
Southee/Patel depending on conditions
O'Brien/Franklin if O'Brien unfit
Martin

Yeah, also there were banners of Preservation of Tigers outside the Indian dressing room.
The banners said " 'TEAM INDIA' support preservation of Tigers" in it.
