How gutless is Virender Sehwag - Sending Rahul Dravid out to open to protect his average.

This is why he'll never be anywhere near as good as Hayden, because he doesn't play for the team, he plays for himself. Sehwag knows that he can't play in difficult conditions, that's why he averages under 10 with the bat as an opener in South Africa & New Zealand after several matches.

Hayden opened the batting in every single Test innings he played, even in the difficult patches at the end of the day, where nothing was to be gained. It's not only because Hayden was a way better batsman then Sehwag but because of little things like this that make Hayden bigger then Sehwag will ever be. It's a joke that Sehwag is even mentioned in the same breathe as Hayden.

Well done to Gautam Gambhir though, a much better opening batsman then Virender Sehwag!

Oh Man! Will you please drop this Hayden bug from your mind, Ben? Hayden, Hayden, Hayden, He is the alltime best- stop it man. Or atleast post these things in proper threads. What has this thread to do with Hayden? Is he umpiring in it or is he commentating? Whenever we start a thread "East or west Hayden is the best" post gets into it. I don't know how each and every thread in PC gets linked with Matthew Hayden. Hayden is 2000 times greater than Sehwag- happy now?

Anyway, this was expected to be honest. I mean, this thrashing. Look, Test Cricket isn't a game Vetty and co would feel comfortable at and when you are playing against India, arguably the second best test side right now, it's always difficult. Still, I expected something better from the Kiwis- oh well, better luck next time.

** Bump from article *** :p

As Ian Chappel said in a recent interview, Sachin Tendulkar does not win matches for his team and his career seems to be based on etching out an odd 50 in order to keep a steady average and expand on his already massive tally of runs. He no longer dominates attacks or scores large scores consistantly and has not done for a long time or a substantial portion of his career to be considered great.

I can never forget those crap words in my life-time.. Thats why I have bookmarked this article in particular because i knew that it's going to be wrong anyways and this is one article that has hurt me more than no-sense talking Ian Chappel.

Well Indian team the person who was in favor of previous records of Indian team in New Zealand

But India won Yeah after long 33 years :happy

Sachin the great :hpraise:hpraise

Yeah right, but we need to just ignore such things Chappel brothers are clowns for me, i just laugh at all the crap they say :) Sachin too answers this cracks perons through his batting :D

Ignore these things. You can't expect anything better from a person whose bro provoked his another bro to bowl the worst delivery of alltime in ODI cricket- just to win a mere match. These guys are too proud and too self-centred to say anything good about other players from other countries. They think they are respectively the no 1, the no 2 and the no 3 of alltime in cricket.

Same old story from a NZ supporters point of view. We just cant rely on 1 or 2 people per innings it needs to be a team effort.

Vettori's bowling has been poor when playing better teams we must play Patel and it seems like O'Brien might be injured, so my team for Napier.

1: McIntosh (Might as well give him a few more goes no one else is in form)
2: Guptill
3: Flynn
4: Taylor
5: Ryder
6: McCullum
7: Franklin (Hes been in form and should get a couple of series at least to prove himself)
8: Vettori (Would keep him at 8 just because he seems to fail when we try to move him)
9: O'Brien/Southee (O'Brien if fit)
10: Patel
11: Martin

Let it go, it was like three years ago when I was young and naive.

Fantastic win by India, it was a true team effort and a deserved win. It is heartening to see Munaf put in a strong performance with the ball and Harbhajan Singh put in a good performance away from the subcontinent. Ishant and Tendulkar were sublime earlier in the game and it was a great effort by India to overpower New Zealand.

It's too tough for a person like me who has been watching and enjoying Sachin's cricket for almost 15 years now, to just digest and forget some of the things,

I have never felt so down in my career -- by Sachin
Mirror mirror say me, Why am I wasting time in International Cricket - Ian Chappel at Sachin
Sachin can no longer dominate -- manee(who was supposed to be a great article writer and matured member of PC) at Sachin

It's not your fault, manee.. It's just I am sensitive in few things especially when I have four people as my role models - Sachin, Bill Gates, Michael Schumacher and ARR(music)!

Though I am not a big fan of Munaf, I was kicking myself and cursing Dhoni, " What in the hell was Yuvraj doing with the new ball and where was Munaf? " :p :D

Please let it go, I don't like having my past ignorance brought up repeatedly.

Tongue firmly in cheek?

Was that a tongue-in-cheek (ie. jokey; non serious) remark?

manee actually meant, whether your comment on sehwag has to end with ' :p ' ... correct manee? ;)

Yeah, it was but really Sehwag should've opened.

For some who gets selected to open the batting, it is their responsibility to open at all times.

You don't know about Indian cricket. Do you know, a pure fast bowler has opened the innings for India and won the match for India. That time target was 11 Vs England @ 2001.

That player was Iqbal Siddiqui.

1st Test: India v England at Mohali, 3-7 Dec 2001

So when the short target comes, Indian players do have these kind of strange experimentations :p

Captain's decision, Ben. Dhoni obviously wanted Rahul Dravid to get into even better touch before the 2nd test.

Good win by India, but they're playing a bad excuse for a test team atm.

McIntosh - technique is flawed against decent bowlers
Mills - has lost the plot
Martin - needs to learn how to bat a tad bit, whenever this guys in the side, NZ are always starting the innings 1 down
Taylor - has so much potential, but I'm doubting his ability to come out of any sort of pressure situation in a test innings
