Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Bairstow scored more than the whole RCB team! What a shocking defeat, they were never gonna chase it but you would expect them to at least put up a better fight. Although doesn't bother me too much being a KKR supporter....

What are people planning to complain about Chepauk today? The over flowing dew? :rolleyes

This is super recovery by CSK. After the sticky start where truthfully all four batsmen played unwise and poor shots, in Thala we trust!

Could get up to 160 where at one time I doubted 130.

This is entertainment at it's finest! DHONI!!

What a bloody innings this is!!! Uh.... MAS.... ZING!!

Magnificent from MSD. What an inning. Mahi maar raha hain!

This is now a good total.

Its times likes these that make you feel that Dhoni is arguably one of the greatest players in the world.

If anything, his role needs to be adapted in the Indian ODI line-up - push him up the order. Give him time to hit the sixes.

Doff the hat to Raina for smothering that tough period at the start and setting up the recovery alongwith Dhoni.

Dhoni is perhaps the best active batsman in the world on a slow pitch. Unreal innings considering the situation he walked in and the early collapse. Massive kudos to Raina and Bravo too for playing the aggressive role whilst Dhoni played the anchor. I'm pretty sure that the Indian captain will promote Dhoni to 4 in the ODI side and stack the team with sloggers like Shankar, Jadhav and Pandya for the World Cup. :rolleyes

But you have to agree that the pitch in the last match was poor for batting. Even Dhoni himself said it that he wanted the surface to be a bit better

The surface was poor for T20 standard in the first match and there is no doubting that. This pitch here is good. Has everything for everyone.

Also I am still shocked on how did RR let CSK score 170 after they were 112 in the 17th over. But hey what can you expect when a team has both Unadkat and Kulkarni leading the attack. That is 80 runs right there for opposition in the 8 overs between them.

I've noticed one thing in the IPL. Though this seems crazy please do understand the logic behind this.

The players who had represented other teams where really fantastic but perfomedpworse when they joined RCB. Namely:
Stuart Binny - RR
Watson - RR
Colin De Grandhomme - KKR
Mohmmad Siraj - SRH (was one of the best finds for SRH in his debut IPL).
Badrinath - CSK
QDK - Delhi

Etc..

The players who have left RCB to join other teams have perfomed well.

Watson - CSK
Sarfaraz - KXIP
Gayle - KXIP
Kedar Jadav - CSK
QDK - Mumbai
Mayank Agarwal - RPSG, KXIP
Shimron Hetmyer to be joining the above players soon.

English : "I used to play well before, then i joined RCB"

Unless Kohli has signed a contract to stay as RCB captain forever, i don't see a reason he shouldn't be sacked.

And Dhoni made them punish all they bowl were slower half volleys , it seemed MS knew all along whats coming just wait for it and hit it with full force.
P.S - When he let that above the shoulder bouncer go in the last over one sort of know that MS is in full control of his game and is literally toying with the bowlers.

Probably that will happen next year if India loose the WC since I am sure there will be uproar and Kohli will loose his captaincy.

There is no choice for management in selecting the captain. ABD might retire from all forms of cricket next year and I don't see any other player taking up the role of captain.

Kohli being the captain of India is automatically considered keeping in mind the long term association with him. I don't know how he would manage after Dhoni's retirement. India has options like Rohit, Rahane but not RCB.

I don't see Kohli continuing with the franchise if at all he is sacked from Captaincy. Vettori was sacked by management after taking word from Kohli. At present, he is very powerful personality in Indian Cricket.

Only thing that would make Kohli leave the Captaincy is Kohli himself. His reply to GG comments on his Captaincy made me realise that we aren't getting rid of his Captaincy anytime soon.
