@Bevab Jadeja can be played as a bowler/batsman in the IPL. He's a genuine all rounder. If you see the way he has batted in the last two years, he's been completely wasted at 7/8 not just in the IPL but also in blue. He's a good enough number 6 in blue and deserves a run at 4 in yellow.

I do agree that he is wasted down the order as he was never a slogger and it is very easy to restrict him from scoring boundaries unless he is well set. As for him being good enough as a number four.. he can't do any worse than the likes of Jadhav for sure but I still am not sure if he can tee off like a proper batsman. I rate him highly in the longer formats but in T20s.. still think he needs a bit of work. Having said that wouldn't be surprised if he does play well upon promotion as I'm sure that with the dearth of options and with Jadeja not bowling as much as he once did he would have been asked to focus more on his batting and finding solutions to his lack of 'range'.

As for Curran.. the entirety of CSK's fanbase has been calling for him to open. It is a bit of a surprise that it took them so long as I remember Santner being held back as a potential pinch-hitting option last season and with the lack of powerplay runs this season Curran seemed like an obvious choice.

These two are our best options against Rashid barring a miracle from Jadeja. If they can't play him.. no one can. On the other hand, I'm looking forward to seeing how our spinners fare given how their spinners have been bowling. Just wished we got to see someone like Sai Kishore or Tahir instead of the ones who have already been tried and struggled.

Anyone saw that third ball from Rashid over? The fielder was making so many mistakes with the fielding.. End result? Just a single from Rayudu-Watson. UNBELIEVABLE running between the wickets... These two have to be separated in future IPL's just for this

This is most likely to be Watson's final season in the IPL. I don't think Rayudu will be retained or bought back either.

My gut feeling is that someone in orange today will soon be wearing yellow and leading CSK into the next era.

The dot balls and lack of doubles have really hurt the momentum for Chennai. Every bowler has had a couple of dot balls per over in their spell.
