Indian Premier League - General Discussion

I strongly disagree. MI have Chahar and Krunal regularly performing. Stoinis aside, DC's lynchpin has been their two spinners. RCB has Sundar and Chahal regularly picking 2-3 wickets and with economy rates less than 6/7. Rashid Khan has been the best spinner of the tournament. RR have two leggies bowling outstandingly and even Punjab's best bowler has been Bishnoi.

Name one CSK spinner that has been a standout? Bravo is not batting, he gets garbage wickets at the end whereas Tahir will give you bite in the PP, the middle and even the 17-18th over if needed. The biggest thing that CSK needs is an injection of infectious energy and passion and I would pen Tahir's name on the XI tomorrow before Dhoni's.

Jadeja has got to step up. First with the ball and he has to bat 4. Just having a left hander in the mix over there will upset a choking effect that is being created in the middle and Jadeja has been batting really well and wasted royally.

I will again repeat- A side like CSK needs one or two wins and it will not be long before everyone will join the bandwagon of "it was just a glitch." Another big reason for CSK to react is that it looks like you could sneak in with 6 wins or 7 wins this year and a turn around is not past CSK's reach.

Ngigi is a bogus pick. He is an atrocious death bowler and his only value addition is with the new ball and Chahar and Thakur are doing just fine. CSK's issues are middle order batting and mid innings bowling where they don't pick wickets as a result of which the floodgates open at the death.

Watson
du Plessis
Rayudu
Jadeja
Dhoni
Jadhav
Curran
Chahar
Thakur
Chawla
Tahir

I know Jagadeesan did okay last game but I would like to give Jadhav one last go. He is a former India international and may be a kick up the backside is what was needed for him. Give him a go and make it clear that it's go time!

EDIT- One more thing- If CSK are chasing, open with Curran and Watson. It will come with some shock to the opposition, disrupt plans and it will inject a much needed thrust of momentum right at the top. It's left field and one innings of 30/40 could completely turn around CSK fortunes. If he gets out, so be it. CSK bat till 10. No big deal.

Can agree with most of the stuff you've said here, but I just cannot agree with the idea of bringing back Jadhav for Jagadeesan. Jadhav has clearly shown in the many innings he has played this season that he has lost the innovative batting that is required for T20 cricket. And Jagadeesan in just one innings showed that he has that innovative gameplay for T20 cricket. Most importantly, he has shown urgency and intent (yes the big elephant word of CSK this season). Also he is an unknown and until he plays a massive innings, he will likely fly under the radar for sometime and that can be a good thing for CSK. He can also at times take the gloves from Dhoni and keep wickets (Jaggi is a specialist wicketkeeper). As far as Jadhav is concerned, I would actually be far more OK to give Murali Vijay another chance (honestly no Tamil Nadu bias here). Jadhav needs to go back to India and understand where he is right now with his game and how long does he want to keep playing cricket at the highest level and depending upon his self assessment, make the necessary moves to resurrect his career.

Interesting match today. Underperforming SRH vs struggling CSK.

I'm putting my money on CSK.

Tbh, this year we won't see both of them qualify, I'd love some competition for the 4th spot. ;)

Interested to see if Tewatia's attack against Rashid Khan might see other teams go after him a little more.
I doubt CSK will dare do that given that Rashid comes in only once the PP has been completed. But can't rule it out as well - very small possibility I would say.[DOUBLEPOST=1602585280][/DOUBLEPOST]

I can agree with the SRH part...won't still count out CSK though.

I am not accusing you of any bias and I am in the same boat of pain as you with CSK. If there is no super auction, I would want Jagadeesan to play all of the next IPL. But, with Jadhav CSK need to decide now. The plight with him is so enormous that he needs to either show something to look forward to next year or just be done away with. Sending him back to India is a non option. CSK's squad is extremely limited and god forbid if there's any injury or covid scare then they run the risk of worse imbalance. By playing Jadhav, you get clarity on the future and there's a lot of pride involved when you wear that blue cap. Jadhav will be hurting and such things can bring about very different sides within people.

Vijay has to open if he has to play and there is 0 scope of that considering the fact that at least that portion of CSK's problems are completely taken care of. It will only 'open more holes in the ship.'

For me, Tahir is a non negotiable point. He has to play and PC is a proven performer in the IPL. He didn't do badly at all and I think these two could apply that 'choke' and give MS that striking option that he needs in the middle. People don't realise or mention it because he's been such an underrated performer, but Harbhajan is being missed as badly as Raina. On these big grounds, finger spinners are ruling the roost this IPL. There are a lot of stories around Raina and not one around Harbhajan. Don't know what in the blue hell is up.

May be you switched off your TV when other teams are fielding... All team dropped catches in every match...

Don't care about other teams. I care about the one I support :)

And fact is, their catching has been sh!t. On another day, dropping Dre Russ could cost us a match

WTF? If you're getting Nadeem in for Abhishek then Samad coming back was a no brainer. Hope this doesn't bite SRH in the ass

Finally..... CSK is batting first!!

But only one change and that too, Chawla for Jagadeesan?? What in the friggin' world?

Watson
du Plessis
Rayudu
Jadeja
Dhoni
Jadhav
Curran
Chahar
Thakur
Chawla
Tahir

Thats probably the best team CSK can play right now, esp with the wickets starting to slow down. Would probably replace Jadhav with Jagadeesan, but then he would unsettle the middle order

Playing Bravo and Curran together makes no sense.

The man's shenanigans on twitter make it clear that there is more going on in the CSK camp than what has been told. Also Chawla in for Jagadeesan? Is Jadeja supposed to play today as a specialist batsman? :rolleyes

Very strange. I guess, MSD is going to go with a team he would be most comfy with and is counting on the top order putting up enough runs so that the spinners can choke out a win[DOUBLEPOST=1602596644][/DOUBLEPOST]

Another bizarre personnel change in today's game

On the bright side, we might end up with an unlikely hero tonight

Curran opening.

No Watson too... interesting...

Whoa .. Sam and Faf to open

Could be ffun

Think Nadeem coming in for Shankar/Abhishek was bound to happen considering having a weak fifth bowling option. Abishek was under bowled IMO, and he was quite handy with the bat also. Would've liked to see Samad in for Shankar, but Shankar seems to be the sixth bowler/the experienced batsman that's needs especially when SRH have got Rashid at 7.
