Indian Premier League - General Discussion

He isn't going after every ball like he frequently did when promoted so far. Wonder what instruction he has been given today.

Think Nadeem coming in for Shankar/Abhishek was bound to happen considering having a weak fifth bowling option. Abishek was under bowled IMO, and he was quite handy with the bat also. Would've liked to see Samad in for Shankar, but Shankar seems to be the sixth bowler/the experienced batsman that's needs especially when SRH have got Rashid at 7.

Might have been harsh but Garg should have been the one sitting out in that case. You've already got an anchor masquerading as a 'dynamic accumulator' at three and an actual dynamic batsman at four, don't need an inexperienced version of that at five with a limited Shankar to follow. Excited to see what Rashid can do with the willow though, he was quite handy on the bigger Aussie grounds so the size of the stadium today shouldn't be a huge issue for him.

@SaiSrini was already complaining about the lack of proper running when Watson and Rayudu were batting previously.. imagine that except the duo will both be most likely fresh at the crease this time. The only reason I can think of is that they want to neutralize the impact Rashid could have on the game by having two batsmen at the crease around the time he could be potentially bowling.

CSK ringing in bizarre changes... And Faf is gone for a golden duck!!!

I just cannot understand this thinking. Did they decide on Watson at No. 3 just as a shock element? No logic whatsoever!

Well.. that's one way to solve the issue of Watto struggling in the middle overs..[DOUBLEPOST=1602598478][/DOUBLEPOST]

Watson and Rayudu both have a good record versus Rashid but that is absolutely not worth the lack of strike rotation that we shall see with them.

Curran finally doing what he was sent to do

I'm not a big fan of Jagadeesan the T20 batsman in the first place (I rate him in first-class cricket a lot, scored a wonderful century versus the Ranji champions last season for example) but imagine telling him that you are getting dropped after being part of the only decent partnership for your team in the last game. Further imagine being Gaikwad, scoring 400+ runs in the domestic T20 trophy last season and watching an all-rounder (a talented one, but still) be preferred ahead of you.[DOUBLEPOST=1602598976][/DOUBLEPOST]Loving this intent from Curran. Hope he can play through though as I don't think he should be a pinch-hitter alone, he is capable of more than that.

Don't know why SRH keep bowling short consistently, this isn't Australia or South Africa. The short balls are sitting up nicely due to the slow nature of the pitch, and Curran is able to dispatch them for six. Happened in the last game against RR, where Tewatia and Parag played short balls with no difficulty whatsoever. Khaleel needs to learn a thing or two from Natarajan to bowl fuller and hit those yorkers. We are def missing Bhuvi right now.

Lovely stuff from Sandeep Sharma. This is a very decent start IMO for the Sunrisers.

Watson and Rayudu for the middle overs where running between the wickets is crucially important.... DEAR GOD, can you put some urgency into these two please?? Sincere prayers!!

Curran did his job!! Wish he had gone on for 1-2 more overs, but he did his job!! Now over to the rest to show the intent that has been shown at the start today!

The latter looks as fluent as he did versus Mumbai.. fingers crossed!

I hope so! Watson is also looking to open his arms up. With their running deficiency, these two have to find boundaries every over to keep up the scoring rate.

Rashid still has not come in.. is he being saved for Dhoni with these two both having a very decent record versus him?

CSK playing a much better team today. I am so proud to have made the left field prediction of Curran opening. Just the fact that I remotely think like MS on any front. I'll go to bed a very happy guy.

I still think Tahir should have played for Bravo, but at least two leg spinners in the middle and an attacking option with a fall back option on Jadeja.

@Bevab Jadeja can be played as a bowler/batsman in the IPL. He's a genuine all rounder. If you see the way he has batted in the last two years, he's been completely wasted at 7/8 not just in the IPL but also in blue. He's a good enough number 6 in blue and deserves a run at 4 in yellow.

3 dot balls already for Rashid in his first over!! 16 dot balls in the last game vs CSK!! God save CSK if they keep giving 2-3 dot balls every over to Rashid

On the brighter side, both of these guys are looking positive. But they need to stop respecting Rashid too much
