Indian Premier League - General Discussion

It doesn't matter if you stack up your team with superstars. IPL has repeatedly debunked the theory of "filling up squad of superstars". It can help get you eyeballs and bums on seats, but nothing much on the performance front. Any team that focuses on stacking up superstars, you should be very skeptical about their approach.
RCB would have multiple titles if that approach worked.

I think auctions+ draft, both systems need to co-exist simultaneously. The auction gets the public hooked on. As a spectator, I have keenly followed the fortunes of teams I supported, via the auctions. I wouldn't say they have outlived themselves however, the fact remains that a 2-day auction is very boring. Once the marquee players are done with, I have absolutely no excitement when it comes to the auction of fringe/ domestic players- many of whom get picked at the base price.

My suggestion would therefore be-
1. Auction for Marquee players
2. Draft for the Rest

Not sure of the authenticity of this claim: Been hearing that Lucknow have approached KLR, Rashid and Warner to be a part of the team. They are yet to figure who the captain will be.

Meanwhile, their Ahmedabadi counterparts seem to have approached Shreyas Iyer for captaincy, followed by Shikhar Dhawan and Faf du Plessis.

If Dale Styen could be SRH's bowling coach then ABD possibly be RCB's Batting coach/ mentor.

Strong rumors coming out that Hardik Pandya is going to be captain of Ahmedabad, with Rashid Khan and Ishan Kishan likely to join him for that franchise.

I am guessing that Shreyas Iyer is likely rejecting an offer from atleast one of these franchises? If above news is true, chances of Shreyas captaining RCB or SRH or KKR increases. I wonder if Shreyas would be happy to go into a team where he cant yet captain (like an MI or a CSK).

I don’t think Shreyas is giving up the chance to be the ‘Rohit’ to KL Rahul’s ‘Kohli’ act.
