Royals are very heavily reliant on their top order. Worked so far, but this is the part of the tournament where they need it most.

The thing is that they've also got a well rounded attack having 2 of the best spinners in the country and one of the best left-arm pacer in the world. While Prasidh Krishna/Navdeep Saini and Obed McCoy makes up for the rest. Not to forget they have Nathan Coulter-Nile on the bench.

This is the most complete team in IPL this season.

DDP is in the wrong franchise.

An opener playing at no.4 and struggling to get going throughout the season.

He would most probably get picked up by KKR next season IMO.

Just something that I kept pondering for a while - Why is that players (both local and international) seem to show visual signs of disappointment or disgust (eg - batsman getting out at a crucial juncture or bowler bowling a freebie that goes for a boundary or a fielder misfielding) on a larger scale in the IPL as compared to when playing on an International level? Is it because of the guilt of being paid handsomely and not performing or purely pressure from the Team owner/management where the player knows he is being watched with a microscope?

I do believe that there's nothing wrong in being disappointed with yourself, but was wondering why don't we see more of it on the International level? Kind of gives the impression that the stakes are not that high when turning up in national colours.

I think that's just a myth. We do see players being extremely gutted to lose some crucial games. I think this is more like we don't see it in bilaterals because there's no wrong in losing those as far as you win matches that are important.

We do see pure emotions running through the players when India won the 2018 Nidahas Trophy or Kane Williamson 's reaction when NZ failed to lift the 2019 WC. Also remember that game of 2019 WC which Carlos Braithwaite almost single handedly won it for West Indies had he not been caught on the boundary?

Or that they have been told to tone it down a bit during international games. The code of conduct is more or less against the players and such outbursts are bound to see them get banned for a longer duration.

On the contrary, it was one of the things I liked about him. If you have that much passion, you're bound to get others around you infected with it.

True, I agree with this. I actually liked that banging on the broken wrist when he scored a century against KXIP or that high jump after winning at Johannesburg in 2018.

Is it just me or has the IPL actually become very boring? Its kinda reminiscent of the CWC2007 with a long, drawn out tournament that doesnt seem to have any end in sight.

This is the folly with the ten team single group format. The 2019 WC had the same issue and this format will almost always lead to a plethora of dead rubbers that have zero stake at hand.

I believe thats the reason why Sony pictures questioned the base bid price for the IPL rights. They have claimed a reduction in interest among the masses. Add to that, the IPL rights would not be exclusive to any one channel this time round- given that 18 matches including the opening game, play-offs and finals would be simulcast on other networks as well.
