Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

Who will Dravid and Yuvi replace in the current squad? Rohit Sharma and Raina probably?

Who will Dravid and Yuvi replace in the current squad? Rohit Sharma and Raina probably?

You forgot Laxman? This will be the ideal XI from the team selected for the tests

V Sehwag
G Gambhir
R Dravid
S Tendulkar
Y Singh
VVS Laxman
MS Dhoni
H Singh
P Ojha
Z Khan
I Sharma

Since its Sri Lanka, play two spinners (Ojha higher than Mishra). Start with Khan and Ishant, and swap in Sree if Ishant doesnt show good form.

Hmmm... It's going to be a tough ask for us without Baz and Dan.
Good to to our young guns there, in BJ and Kane.

This is what I think out line-up should be:

1. Jesse Ryder
2. Martin Guptill
3. Kane Williamson
4. Ross Taylor (capt)
5. Grant Elliott/Scott Styris
6. Gareth Hopkins (wk)
7. Jacob Oram
8. Nathan McCullum
9. Kyle Mills (vice-capt)
10. Daryl Tuffey
11. Tim Southee

Bench:

BJ Watling (Reserve Batsman)
Grant Elliott/Scott Styris (Reserve all-rounder)
Andy McKay (Reserve pace bowler)
Jeetan Patel (Reserve spin bowler)

How many India-Sri Lanka series we have seen in last two years?:facepalm
Man, I'm bored.:facepalm

i have a strong feeling that williamson wont play unless we are sure we aren't going to qualify. considering there are only two matches we wont be sure until the last game.

this is my lineup

1. Jesse Ryder
2. BJ Watling (wk)
3. Martin Guptill
4. Ross Taylor (c)
5. Grant Elliot
6. Scott Styris ^
7. Nathan McCullum ^
8. Jacob Oram ^
9. Daryl Tuffey ^
10. Kyle Mills ^
11. Andy McKay ^

I rather have Watling keeping than Hopkins tbh; and considering styris's current form he wont be dropped for elliot but selectors will be keen on getting him in so elliot will probably play as a specialist batsman as he usually does.

not sure about McKay/Southee I prefer McKay for his pace but that sort of bowling isn't really suitable in the sub-continent.

Man, now we have seen more messages like this than we have seen India-Sri Lanka matches in the recent past.:p:D We have some revenge to take against SL in the tests (for our defeat to them last time we toured them). That would be interesting enough. And we get to see the legends like Dravid, Laxman and Tendulkar together in tests again (its going to be rare because we dont know when they will retire).

I completely agree. Really looking forward to see some quality batting from the Indians.
Sehwag's form and fitness will be crucial. However India can beat Lanka only if they bowl well.

I'm like 90% sure Hopkins will be there keeping.
If they were going to play Watling as a keeper they would have done earlier, instead of playing Hopkins previously.
I want to see both Elliot and Styris playing, but over the past two years it has either been one or the other.
Elliot came in when Styris was first dropped, and Styris came back when Elliot got injured.
I'd probably have Southee over McKay, but TBH I don't really mind.

I too agree..
The bowling lineup consists of zaheer, harbhajan, ojha, sreesanth, ishant sharma, amit mishra
the bowling lineup doesnot seem convincing except zaheer and harbhajan..
so India have to work a lot...!!

Ishant and Sreesanth are good bowlers in test cricket. Dont confuse their ODI/IPL/T20 form with test cricket. India's bowling lineup is better in tests.

Ishant bowled well in the South Africa series but he did not take many wickets as the South African batsmen played him really well. But he can be very effective against the Lankans with his bounce.

Sreesanth also is effective seamer but as we know he gets off the track really fast...
Ishant has done great job in Tests and zaheer and harbhajan are there to lead...

Ishant needs to look at how Peter Siddle bowls and bowl same lines. He will be deadly again. He has gone in to habit of bowling line and length outside off stump and just sucks at it.

Yuvraj Singh should be nowhere near the test team ffs. Why the hell was Badri dropped? :doh

Marriage seems to have made our batsmen better test batsman. Hopefully it will happen with Dhoni now.

Yuvi are you watching.
