Ishant needs to look at how Peter Siddle bowls and bowl same lines. He will be deadly again. He has gone in to habit of bowling line and length outside off stump and just sucks at it.

I second that. Ishant still has the promise. He cannot go from supremely talented to a dud in one season. He needs someone to sort out his lines and should cut down on T20s. The main problem for him has been that ever since the SA tour of India got over in 2008 and the IPL started, he has played the IPL and T20 cricket non stop on flat tracks. That not only damages the confidence but also messes up the attacking mindset which fast bowlers ought to carry.

WTH? Why does Zaheer keep doing this? Anyways thank god they didnt bring in Nehra as replacement. But still, now lots of pressure on Ishant and Sreesanth who are already under big pressure due to their poor work in ODI's and T20's.

Now the tests are going to be livened up more due to Zaheer's absence. Wont be surprised if Sri Lanka even beat us

I still favor India to do well without Zaheer because Sri Lanka dont have the Mendis mystery this time, which played a big part in them winning the last series in SL. India is a better side, and without the Mendis mystery, I dont see SL troubling us at all.

Too right. Got absolutely dominated when he last played India in the Test series. 9 wickets @ 65.66 in that series. Not the Murali of old thats for sure.

I don't know why RP Singh,Munaf,Irfan not being given a chance again, they have already proved themselves in International cricket but just due to bad patch they have been forgotten for like ever. The 3rd/4th bowler in squad is picked based on lucky draw i guess between Umesh yadav,S Mithun, S tyagi. Its ridiculous we don't have proper bowling line-up and we are so-called no.1 test team.

And Btw i think murli didn't choose the right test to retire or rather right batting line up to bowl against in his last test

Munaf and RP are useless if the conditions dont suit them, and SL conditions wont suit them at all. Munaf even in good conditions comes in and bowls so badly that he doesnt deserve a chance anymore. He is not the same Munaf that wrecked England at Mohali when he started off. RP needs some swing in the air and the pitch to support him. Same with Irfan, but I feel Irfan with his batting ability and his ability to contain runs will be useful in ODI's. He needs to be back in ODI's.

Fast bowler Lasith Malinga has been named in the 16-member Sri Lanka squad for the three-Test series against India beginning on July 18, setting him up for a return to Tests after two-and-a-half years .

India tried the trick to lure Sri Lanka into including Mendis again (Dravid spoke about how we would be better prepared against Mendis) but SL have not fallen for the bait and have rightfully dropped him. He is no more the same spinner that he was when he started. His mystery helped me get some fame, but now he is back to square one after the mystery has disappeared.

yeap that's the point, Mendis has been smashed over by Indian Batsmen in recent past and I don't think they'd have been facing any difficulties against him.

Though Herath secures his place in the side with this I think, India have the upper hand even when Srilanka are at home.

It would turn out to be a really good series.
