Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

Dilshan out for not much. One of the few batsmen not to cash in on some easy runs.

Dillu is gone for 14, atleast India got one wicket I was thinking that the openers will go on to play whole day.:p

Excellent. Far better performance from our bowlers in the second innings. Kept the SL run rate to below 3 and picked up 3 wickets (I didnt expect them to pick even one). Anyways, that was the end of possibly one of the most boring test matches in cricket history.

If SL want to win the series, better they reproduce another pitch like this. If they produce a more livelier pitch, they run the risk of being thwarted by our bowlers. This is the new mantra for all opposition - prepare a pitch to render our bowlers useless, and the chances of your winning increases. It used to be opposite before.

So if India manages to draw the last match with a first innings leas or something(I don't expect a win with our bowling but surely a draw is guaranteed), Would India retain no.1 test rankings till Aussie series.

I am pretty sure that the third test will be won by India.

First innings lead and all dont play a part. Victory, defeat or draw only plays a part. I guess India will retain the No.1 spot even if we lose 2-0 to SL. Check this out, it says Sri Lanka wont be able to displace India from No.1 even if they win 2-0

Sri Lanka won't be able to displace India from the No. 1 position in the Test rankings in this series. It was earlier believed that a 2-0 series win would be enough to take Sri Lanka to the top spot.

However, the system had been misunderstood. From August 1, 2010, the rankings will cease to consider all Tests played between August 2006 and July 2007. During that period, Sri Lanka won five Tests and lost just one. Losing out on that good year takes Sri Lanka's rating points down from 115 to 111, and their current ranking from No. 4 to No. 5.

Over the same period, India won two Tests and lost two. Since their recent results have been better, they jumped from 124 rating points to 130. The best Sri Lanka can now achieve from this series is a jump to No. 2 if they win the P. Sara Test, starting Tuesday.

Sri Lanka v India:2-0 series win not enough for SL to become No. 1 | Cricket News | Sri Lanka v India | Cricinfo.com

So we should be safe at No.1 though dont know how much hit we will take on he points if we lose 2-0. We are on 130 points, SA are on 119. If Sri Lanka win 2-0, they should jump higher than SA's 119 points but they wont be above India's points. Hope India clear all this confusion by winning the 3rd test and saving the series and their points.

Here is some bad news for India: Malinga is set to come back for the 3rd Test.

Also Yuvraj Singh is fit to play for the 3rd Test. He was actually also fielding on the 5th Day. Tendulkar didn't field on the 5th Day, because he had a stiff groin.

Dhoni and the management has a headache now after Raina's debut hundred. Will they drop Raina and play Yuvraj? Yuvraj's fielding has dropped dramatically in the last few years. Raina is a brilliant fielder who can still save 25-30 runs on the field. And Yuvi got only a 50 in the first innings of the first test and failed in the 2nd. I think they should persist with Raina.

They shouldn't take any note of the performances in the 2nd Test. A lot of players got a century. Yuvraj Singh made worthy contributions in the 1st Test, when some couldn't, so he should come back in the 3rd Test.
