Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

This is a great opportunity for these young/inexperienced guys to show what they've got. The good thing is they'll have more than one match to do it too. Can't wait to see how they do. We're certainly the underdogs and I don't mind if we lose but hopefully we can see a few of these guys step up eg. Kane Williamson

I disagree. Dravid should retire first, followed by Laxman, followed by Tendulkar. It makes no sense for Tendulkar to retire when he's entered the second (or third?) purple patch of his career. Dravid is not quite as stable anymore and I'm not sure his brand of cricket is getting any more popular.

When Dravid retires, I'd slot Laxman up there at number 3 (where he's played some of his best innings') and bring in one of the newbies in down the order--Sharma or Pujara or whoever. As long as Sachin is making runs consistently, he still has value for us on the team and he obviously has priceless value in mentoring the youngsters. I think Sehwag in particular has benefited a lot from partnerships with Tendulkar throughout his career.

I agree with your retirement order. Of course, there's also the injury factor which may see a change with in that order, but yeah, it definitely seems to be the obvious order.

However, I'd rather slot Pujara(imo, he's very similar to Dravid and should be the next batsman in the team) at number 3 and put him in the pressure slot immediately. I don't think he'll have any problems responding. Pujara at 6 is meh, for me. Although, you can argue that it doesn't really matter in Tests where 4/5/6 bat.

Pretty excited to see Williamson bat myself - hopefully I'll find a way of catching the match.

Man, I'm so excited about tonights game. It feels as though it's been an age since New Zealand played some proper cricket. Really hoping Watling gets over his bug so he can make his debut along with Williamson, two Northern Districts boys in the New Zealand top four, it doesn't get any better then that.

We Indians are equally excited as we are playing against some other team and not Sri Lanka. :laugh

Agree, I'm exciting to see that we're going ot play some team in black and white rather than always playing blue and yellow.:p

We're batting though. I'll get to see how Williamson goes before I go to bed :)

:facepalm Ingram's opening

Winning the toss and batting first will be good due to the floodlights as well :)

I guess this means Watling hasn't recovered from the bug Howsie was talking about

Just realised Southee's not playing either :(
