Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

I think Raina has played well the last few innings. He looks like a good replacement for yuvraj! However I would take a more cautious approach as to how successful he will be in the future. Only tours in England and Australia will truly test this young man!

I am confident he will continue his good form against Australia as they are not the same team they used to be and also that'll be in the subcontinent.

I prefer having a more guarded optimism.:p
I don't want to jump the gun and start acting like the Indian media (who incidentally have been calling him the next great batsman after Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly :facepalm)

When the hell did I say that he is gonna be the next Dravid or Tendulka or VVS.
I just said that he will contiue is good form form so that Yuvraj should stay away from the lineup.

Personally I like Raina a lot but never that he' gonna be a legend. He has talent no doubt but you can't tell at this time. Probaly if he continues his good form for more next 5-6 years, if he'l be consistent enough, then only there will be some chances to see the next Tendulkar or Dravid in him.

I never said that you did. I was talking about the Indian media! :p
They have been calling him the next Tendulkar/Dravid/Ganguly (which is premature) :laugh

Yuvi should easily come into the ODI team. Now Raina's test success should spur Yuvi to blast his way in the shorter formats to impress the selectors to give him chances in tests too. So Raina's success is a good positive sign for Yuvi if he takes it in the right spirit.

Yes, because Yuvraj doing well in limited over cricket in the past has shifted over to success in test cricket right? You would think that after 30 odd matches averaging 35 the Indian selectors would realise this, he's just such a awful test batsmen.

I was just saying that he can take it in that right spirit if his mind works that way. He is still wanted in the Indian team in the shorter formats (his hitting, if it works, causes huge damage to the opposition). So all is not bad for him.

To speak out the truth, I would never want to see Yuvraj back in the test side. Raina is doing good. After Sachin, Dravid and Laxman, one option would be Pujara. The next two slots would be up for grabs but keeping in mind the huge list of domestic talent India has, it seems quite difficult for Yuvraj to bounce back. :)

I too never want to see Yuvraj in the Test side again. After Raina's performance in the Tests he played, it would be almost impossible for the selectors to find a reason to bring back Yuvraj into the Test side. Limited overs cricket is where Yuvraj plays best.

I want Rahane in the team after any of fab 3 retires.

Ajinkya Rahane ??? I would have Rohit Sharma over him any day. As mentioned in the post, Pujara too should replace either of the Fab 3. At present, he is quite comparable to Rahul Dravid.

I rate Rahane better than the tow guys, Sharma is ████ but Pujara is excellent.
but Rahane is my favourite, he averages over 63 in FC.
